With the continuous and deepening reform of secondary education,mathematics classroom teaching is also constantly changing.In the traditional mathematics classroom,Only the effect of mathematics teaching is pursued unilaterally in the traditional mathematics classroom where students learn mechanically and ignore understanding of knowledge.In this paper,the shortcomings of mathematics classroom teaching in middle school are focused.Comprehension teaching mode which is targeted to mathematics concepts in secondary school is studied.This study significantly and practically aims to deepen the mathematics curriculum reform of secondary education and promote mathematics quality education."TFU(Teaching For Understanding)" which is proposed in Harvard University's "Project Zero" is a teaching mode of "teaching for understanding." This teaching mode concludes 4 components: enlightening topic,understanding goal,understanding and sustainability evaluation.The teacher is hoped to be instructed to redesign the classroom teaching through the reform of teaching mode which is based on TFU.The class is returned to the students whose learning interest is enhanced with the teaching mode of TFU.With the guidance of TFU,teaching can be evaluated appropriately.The TFU emphasizes that classroom teaching should be closely integrated with daily life,and students should be able to apply the concepts and knowledge to solve practical problems.The mathematical concept is the core component of mathematical knowledge.The highly concise definitions and abstract mathematical symbols cause the mathematical concept can hardly be mastered by rote.Understanding is an important way to learn mathematical concepts.In this paper,the questionnaire and interview are adopted.Through the investigation of some students and teachers in the author's practice school,it is a common situation which can be found that students are lack of understanding about mathematical concepts,and way of dealing with knowledge is to memorize and to recite,instead of understanding.In order to verify the efficiency of TFU in mathematics teaching,the author has conducted a one-semester teaching experiment in a secondary school,with the implementation of TFU and traditional concept teaching mode in two parallel classes.The practical effect of TFU in concept teaching is assessed through the comparison of the students' scores of pro-test and post-test in the two parallel classes.Through the analyzed results of experimental data which is analyzed by independent sample t-test of spss19.0 software and the analyzed results of the data of interviewing subjects,it is found that: 1.Students' mathematics scores can be effectively improved in the class with the implementation of TFU;2.Classroom teaching efficiency can be improved in the class with the implementation of TFU;3.Students can be motivated in the class with the implementation of TFU.Therefore,the TFU is feasible in the teaching of mathematical concepts.And this study provides a basic reference for the promotion of TFU.Due to the limitations of the research conditions,there are still some shortcomings in this study,such as insufficient samples and limited experimental time.This topic is needed to be further studied.
