| History textbooks not only convey historical knowledge,political ideology,but also transmit gender ideology.According to a large number of studies at home and abroad,most school textbooks have serious gender imbalances and gender stereotypes.And this phenomena not only reflected in the text of the textbook,but also reflected in the image.This paper,based on the theory of the uses of image as historical evidence,analyzes the female images in the new historical textbook of Kang Xi in Taiwan and explores the existing gender issues.Among these history textbooks,in terms of pictures,there still are serious problems of gender unbalance:a small amount of females pictures,the selected pictures can not fully display the feminine image,female roles in the picture are a single occupation,and so forth.In response to these problems,this article discusses the reasons for its formation which including the influence of traditional culture under patriarchal society and the influence of traditional view of history and women.The possible consequences include negative impacts on student development and impacts on the function of history education.Finally,This set of textbooks has been approved by Taiwan’s education department and written according to the class outline requirements.Its potential tendency to intentionally constructs "Taiwan subject consciousness" through female images should be guarded. |
