| With the development of the times,China has made steady progress in economic development,and China’s urbanization process has been advancing.Behind the influx of a large number of migrant workers into the city,there are many problems.For example,most of the migrant workers are in the state of informal employment,their employment opportunities are few,the quality of employment is low,the professional status is difficult to improve,and their social welfare security is not implemented,legitimate rights and interests are not maintained and other problems.The reasons are as follows.First,migrant workers are generally poorly educated and lack professional skills.Second,even though migrant workers get job opportunities,enterprises fail to give them the protection they deserve in strict accordance with laws and regulations.The resulting problems,such as the high mobility of migrant workers and the difficulty for migrant workers to integrate into cities,are not conducive to the improvement of their personal living standards and happiness,but also affect the progress of urbanization in China.Human capital is one of the important factors to promote the regular employment of migrant workers and improve the quality of employment.A large number of studies on ways to improve human capital show that education is the most direct way to improve the human capital stock.However,in view of the fact that migrant workers are generally less educated,some scholars have concluded that compared with formal education,skill training has a greater impact on improving the probability of formal employment of migrant workers.There are also studies that show that a large number of enterprises take vocational qualification certification as the basis for selecting employees,so migrant workers who have obtained vocational qualificationcertification can obtain more and better job opportunities.Previous studies have not explored in depth which methods play a more critical role in improving the employment level of migrant workers,and few studies have examined the impact on formal employment from the perspective of skills training and vocational qualification certification.Faced with many difficulties in the process of urbanization of migrant workers,it is of great significance to think about which way can help migrant workers find formal employment to improve their employment level and social and economic status.In addition,with the progress of time,migrant workers continue to grow,with high heterogeneity.Due to different time backgrounds,the new generation of migrant workers and the old generation of migrant workers have great differences in outlook on life,values and other aspects,resulting in great differences in their choice of job and employment.This means that different generations of migrant workers’ preferences in employment goals and career choices may lead to different effects of different factors on formal employment.Therefore,combined with relevant theories,this paper discusses the role mechanism of skill training and vocational qualification certification on the formal employment of migrant workers.Then from the perspective of the inter-generational differences of migrant workers further investigate the impact of skills training and vocational certification on the formal employment of migrant workers group differences.Empirically,based on the data of China labor dynamics survey(CLDS),migrant workers are taken as the research object,and relevant analysis and regression analysis are used to test the hypothesis.The following conclusions are obtained:The skill training of migrant workers is positively correlated with vocational qualification certification and formal employment.On the generational difference,for the two generations of migrant workers,the impact of vocational qualification certification on formal employment is higher than that of skill training,and this effect is more obvious in the older generation of migrant workers. |
