POE teaching strategy(prediction-observation-explanation)is to guide students to use existing knowledge to solve problems.In recent years,some scholars have applied POE teaching strategy to classroom teaching to help students grasp scientific concepts.With the promulgation of new curriculum standards,experts,scholars and front-line teachers paid more attention to the teaching and research of the history of biological science.The purpose of this study is to explore the teaching effect of POE teaching strategy in senior high school biology history teaching,so as to promote students' understanding of biological concepts,develop students' biological literacy,and provide new teaching ideas for front-line teachers to carry out biology history teaching.Two classes in grade one of the senior high school were selected as the research objects.One class used POE teaching strategy to teach history of science.The other class used traditional teaching methods to evaluate the teaching effect through the tests,questionnaires and classroom observation.The results showed that:1.Through the tests,we can find that the teaching of history of biology in senior high school based on POE teaching strategy could enhance students'understanding and mastery of knowledge concepts to a certain extent;2.From the feedback evaluation of students' teaching effect,POE teaching strategy could effectively help students understand the essence of science and develop their scientific thinking and scientific inquiry spirit;3.Students were more approving of the application of POE teaching strategy in the teaching history of science.According to the results above,the teaching suggestions of this study are as follows:1.Teachers should be familiar with the materials of history of science in textbooks and dig and supplement them appropriately.Before class,not only teachers but also students need to read the materials of history of science carefully and understand the intentions and methods of experiments designed by scientists,which is the necessary prerequisite for POE teaching strategy.It can also be arranged for students to collect information before class to cultivate students' ability to collect and analyze information;2.Reasonable time should be arranged in classroom teaching,leaving enough time for students to think and predict;3.In the process of teaching,the necessity of group cooperative learning should be highlighted,so that students can be the main body of learning,think and discuss actively,exert the strength of the team,and make scientific collective efforts.Explain that in cooperative learming,we should learn to cooperate with each other to promote the development of POE teaching;4.Teachers should use POE teaching strategy reasonably in the teaching of history of science,and at the same time,they can appropriately combine POE with other teaching methods.
