A Study On The Trend Of Sports Thought In Militarism During The Late Qing Dynasty And The Early Republic Of China

The trend of sports thought in militarism was a kind of salvation thought that had a huge impact during the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.In that period,militarism physical education was incorporated into the educational system in order to improve people's national ideology and defend the country.In this study,the literature and historical context methods were used to figure out the background of this trend,and how this trend of sports thought developed through educational system and in the entire society.In the end,the study discussed the impact of this trend of thought.To promote the militarism physical education was the only choice of Chinese in such a turbulent period of this country.Although it has the limitations of its era,it is an important force that changes the Chinese national sports cognition and the national spirit and promotes the process of sports modernization in China.The core spirit of this trend of thought came from ancient China,Germany and Japan.In the meanwhile,Chinese intellectuals include students who had studied in Germany and Japan and the rise of publications in modern China also contributed to the formation of this trend of thought.It was formally incorporated into the education system in 1903.With its continuous development in the education field,from the army to the civilian,militarism has become the main theme of sports thoughts in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China.Later,with further discussion of Democracy and Science in the New Culture Movement and the introduction of western naturalistic sports thought,the sports thought in militarism gradually lost its influence in the voice of reflection and opposition.In 1922,the militarism physical education was abolished completely,the trend of thought had lost its impact gradually.Later when China was torn by warlords and especially in the period of anti-Japanese war,this thought has turned into thought of sports militarization guiding the development of sports.This trend of thought has improved the spirit of cowardice and numbness of people in China to some extent,contributed greatly to the transformation of national character;Enhanced the overall strength and social status of the army;Laid a good foundation for the development of modern sports;It is noteworthy that this trend also encouraged Chinese women to participate in physical activities and it was essential to the emancipation of women in modern China.Martial spirit in the trend of sports thought in militarism still can shape our minds and provide great evidence for citizenship education in China.Besides the effort that students who went abroad in modern China made is of great significance that will inspire a new generation of international students to study hard and communicate actively and contribute to the development of sports today.
