Research On Career Planning Problems And Countermeasures Of First-generation College Students

In recent years,with the continuous expansion of college enrollment,the employment situation of graduates is increasingly grim.Most of the time,it is not that they cannot find a job but that they cannot find a suitable job or a satisfactory job.Some college students are even not clear about which type of job or industry they are suitable for.At this time,early career planning is particularly important.Besides,with the continuous and in-depth development of the popularization of higher education in China,the first-generation college students have become an important and even mainstream student group.However,the current research on career planning for this group is extremely limited.Marxist materialist dialectics requires that we should grasp the principal aspect of a contradiction when solving problems.The first-generation college students is the mainstream group in all the college students,so their problem in career planning is also the mainstream issue of all the college students.So it has the research necessity.In order to find problems in career planning of the first-generation college students,we take students of four universities in Anhui Province as the research objects.We use questionnaire and interview methods.We find that the first-generation college students have many problems in career planning,including:low level of career planning;unclear self-cognition;unstable mentality in career planning;utilitarian career goal;inadequate professional preparation;biased professional values.The reasons for these problems in career planning of first-generation college students are family,school,society and individuals.In family,the limitation of cultural capital leads to insufficient guidance of career planning;the limitation of social capital leads to the inadequacy of external occupational information,the limitation of economic capitalleads to the limitation of career planning scope.In school,career planning education consciousness is weak;career planning education service system is not perfect;the curriculum of career planning is unreasonable.In social aspect,the support for career planning is insufficient.Bad social atmosphere influences career planning.On the personal side,the attention and the methods of career planning are both lacking.In view of these,the improvement of career planning for first-generation college students can be made from four aspects: family,school,society and individual.In terms of families,we can build a home-school cooperation platform to give full play of families.Schools,improve the school education development system and mechanism,constantly improve the university support system.In terms of society,we will standardize the job market and build a social support network.On the individual side,improve their own comprehensive quality,formation the first-generation college students self-help support system.
