Engineering education is the cradle of the growth of Engineering Science and technology talents.Engineering faculty is the key subject and core force in the process of training engineering science and technology talents.And their competence determines the quality of engineering students' training.This research focuses on the engineering faculty in higher education institution.It considers the construction of engineering faculty from the perspective of engineering practice competence.This research chooses the engineering faculty of H University,who are good at engineering,as the research object.Firstly,it focuses on four typical traditional disciplines:machinery,electricity,civil engineering and chemical engineering.This research combs the development status of faculty in various disciplines.It further conducts a questionnaire survey for the engineering faculty of H University.Based on this,we can deeply understand the engineering faculty's cognition of engineering practice competence,the factors influencing engineering faculty's engineering practice competence,self-evaluation of engineering faculty's engineering practice competence,and feasible ways to improve engineering faculty's engineering practice competence.Based on the results of the questionnaire,simple correlation analysis and typical correlation analysis are carried out.It is found that engineering faculty of different ages has different engineering practice competence.And there is a typical correlation between their business experience and engineering practice competence.This paper also combs and compares the relevant cases of universities at home and abroad.We draw useful inspiration and reference from two kinds of cases,namely,the training of faculty in engineering practice and the introduction of faculty with engineering practice experience.Finally,based on the theory of combining teaching,scientific research and production,this study puts forward policy suggestions on on-the-job training,employment system and career development of Engineering faculty.And we preliminarily construct an institutional framework of engineering faculty team construction in Universities Guided by engineering practical competence.That provides a reference for exploring the construction path matching with new subjects.
