Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of different exercise type on glycolipid metabolism, arterial vascular function and plantar microcirculation function in middle-aged and elderly community-dwelling people with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods: A group of 60 patients with T2DM(aged = 53~79yrs)from two local community health service centers meeted the experimental criteria and were randomly divided into fitness Gymnastics exercise group,Tai Chi group and control group. Each group consisted of 20 people. All patients received health education, medication guidance, dietary guidance and regular return visits et al.Tai Chi group and fitness gymnastics group attended in the exercise guided by coaches for 1h/d,3times/week,lasted for 16 weeks. Before and after the experiment, the basic data of glycolipid metabolism index, arterial vascular function index such as ankle brachial index(ABI)and pulse wave velocity(PWV),plantar muscle blood perfusion index as tissue oxygen saturation(SO2),local relative hemoglobin total amount(rHb)and blood perfusion velocity were collected. Finally, this study compared the intra-group and inter-group differences on all the testing outcomes.Results:(1)Tai Chi and Fitness gymnastics exercise could reduce plasma FPG and 2hPG in patients with T2DM(P<0.05)(2)Tai Chi and fitness gymnastics exercise can reduce the plasma concentrations of TC,TG and LDL-c(P<0.05);(3)Fitness gymnastics exercise can improve the function of lower limb vascular in diabetic patients, there was significant difference in ABI inter-group(p<0.05),while the increase of PWV is not obvious of fitness gymnastics group.(4)Fitness gymnastics and Tai Chi exercise can improve the blood perfusion velocity of the sole of diabetic patients' foot (p<0.05).And Tai Chi exercise can better improve the blood oxygen saturation and local relative hemoglobin amount of the plantar sole(p<0.05).Conclusion: Fitness gymnastics exercise can promote glycolipid metabolism and benefit the function of arterial vessels in patients with T2 DM,while Tai Chi exercise has more significant effect on improving plantar microcirculation.
