Analysis Of The Competitive Power Of Pharmacology And Toxicology In Provincial Universities Based On WOS

In the 21 st century,the competition among universities is becoming more and more fierce.The allocation of funds and resources is closely related to the competition among universities.The competition among universities is mainly carried out at the disciplinary level.The level of discipline marks the level of development of universities.Under the current double-class background,,we need to construct first-class disciplines with the aim of building world-class universities.How to build“Double First-Class” disciplines requires universities to recognize and judge the advantages and disadvantages of their own disciplines.At the same time,universities need to recognize their own position in the world academic environment.Therefore,it is a hotspot to study the competitiveness evaluation of university discipline.Firstly,this paper combs the related concepts of discipline competitiveness,summarizes the related research progress of discipline competitiveness and scientific research competitiveness at home and abroad,and the application progress of ESI,Incites and WOS core collection in the research of discipline and scientific competitiveness,which has attracted the attention of scholars at present,and constructs the evaluation index system of discipline competitiveness.Then,the distribution of Pharmacology & Toxicology disciplines in different countries and institutions,the number of papers,cited papers,highly cited papers and highly influential researchers in China during 2008-2018 were quantitatively analyzed.Finally,the competitiveness of 11 provincial universities in which Pharmacology &Toxicology disciplines have entered ESI are evaluated,and the development status and characteristics of Pharmacology & Toxicology disciplines in 11 benchmark universities are analyzed.The characteristics,advantages and disadvantages of Nanchang University in this discipline are found out,and the corresponding construction is put forward,so as to provide reference for the government,education and school management departments..The results show that the development of Pharmacology & Toxicology in 11 provincial universities are good in recent years,and the number of published papers and the frequency of cited papers have been greatly increased.However,there is a gap in the competitiveness of 11 provincial universities.The disciplines of Suzhou University,Capital Medical University and Southern Medical University are excellent.In particular,Suzhou University is in the forefront of 11 universities in terms of disciplines output and disciplines influence,which far exceeding the global average level.Nanchang University and Hebei Medical University are in the backward position in 11 universities,and most of the indicators are below the global average level.The rest of the colleges and universities did not perform well.The discipline of Pharmacology & Toxicology of Nanchang University perform better in the percentage of the top 1% papers,natural science fund and cited times,but there are still much space for improvement in the number of papers published,the number of international cooperation papers and the proportion of papers published in Q1 journal.In order to enhance the competitiveness of Pharmacology & Toxicology in provincial colleges and universities,it is suggested that schools should attach importance to the integration of discipline development and discipline,strengthen the exchange and cooperation at home and abroad,increase the cultivation and introduction of high-level scholars,and strive to publish articles to high-impact journals.
