A Study On The Competitiveness Of Local Colleges And Universities

With the coming of the popular trend of higher education, the rend of industrialization of higher education start to rise, and the process of internationalization of higher education is accelerating. More, A large number of foreign higher education institutions are entering China, which makes that any one university are inevitably involved in the whirlpool of global competition. So the competition among institutions of higher learning have been simple domestic competition. Local colleges as an important part of higher education,are having an increasingly important role in promoting the development of China’s economy and the development of the region. As the most important driving force and source of the development of a regional economic and social, Local colleges and universities should be how to deal with domestic and foreign universities to compete, how to stand firm and ensure the sustainable and healthy development of their own in the existing pattern of higher education, which have become major challenges and thinking each of the local colleges and universities have to face. Discipline is the foundation and core of the building development of universities, and discipline construction is the foundation of colleges and universities, and more the discipline is the most basic element of discipline construction. University has three functions with teaching, research and social service, while the functions of University depend on mainly discipline, as that the professor of Wang da zhong said "Discipline is the core of university development, the foundation of teaching, research and social services, and one of the basic characteristics of subjects the University". The development of world universities must be based on its own history, culture, heritage foundation of construction of schools and academic tradition. With the development of universities especially local colleges and universities affected with the expand enrollment, the model of colleges and universities becomes similar. We find the reason are actors of Universities in addition to the system. The purpose of this study is to fully understand the most basic disciplines of the core elements — subject, try to find a variety of factors of competition of disciplines, and propose appropriate strategies for the development of local colleges and universities, so as to promote the competitiveness of local colleges of discipline development.Firstly, at the beginning of the connotation of discipline, discipline and discipline construction of university, the paper starts to analysis the basic position of discipline construction,and then researches the theory of core, features and elements of core competitiveness of universities. And then the study trys to explore the elements of the competitiveness of local colleges and universities, including academic discipline directions, discipline platforms, discipline teams, academic advantages, discipline features and service capabilities of discipline and further identify the competitiveness of disciplines and problems combined with the actual situation of university H disciplinary constructions. Finally, the paper put forward some actions including formulating strategies, concising direction, formulating the development of team and featured development, and then to promote the development of local colleges and universities on the characteristics discipline established and to promote the upgrading of the level of discipline to increase discipline competitiveness based on the long-term mechanism.
