Urban and rural areas in China show differences in lots of aspects,and culture difference is one aspect of them,which draws attention from expert.Because our society longs for knowledge,many people set attending to university as their goal.However,it is a point that students' future depends on their performance in university.That is to say,students' future is closely related to their performance in university.The fact is students from urban and rural areas is different in opportunity obtained.Hence,how urban and rural culture background will exert on students' opportunity obtained is a interesting question.This thesis selects the perspective of cultural capital,based on the theory of family culture capital in Bourdieu cultural capital and the method of literature research and questionnaire survey,and analyzes the status quo of the cultural capital of college students with different family backgrounds(urban and rural areas)according to family indicators system of Ian frazier(cultural level?material level?learning motivation level?emotional level)and the status quo of school opportunities on the aspects of whether they are well-adapted to school,whether they can make good use of the school environment and appearance,and the situation of graduate and employment.It is found that students from different family backgrounds(urban and rural areas)has a wide disparity in cultural capital,which contributes to the fact that urban students' performance is better than rural students.And by exploring the differences in cultural capital possessed by different family backgrounds,it has an impact on college students' access to school opportunities.Therefore,it is proposed to improve the opportunities for rural college students with weak cultural capital to obtain unfavorable countermeasures.There are four chapters:Chapter one,introduction,including Topic selection,literature review,definition of related concepts,research significance and research methods.Chapter two,research findings.It is found that urban students' cultural capital is better than rural students in cultural level?material level?learning motivation level?emotional level.And urban students also perform betters in the three aspects:adapted to school,making good use of the school environment and appearance,and the situation of graduate and employment.Chapter three,reasons analysis.Four reasons.The first is rural students' parents' cultural level is lower,and have no university experience,and unable to provide effective guidance to children.The second is rural students' material level is lower,and the input in other aspects beside basic life is limited.The third is rural students lack learning motivation and miss many opportunities.The fourth rural students' emotional level is lower which influences their school performance.Chapter four,there are four strategies.One,improving the family cultural level of rural students.Two,guaranteeing the basic material need of rural students.Third,inspiring the learning motivation of rural students.Fourth,school should be the emotional home of rural students.
