Along with the economic recession, some urban areas in the world are experiencing a process of loss. For example, since the middle of the 20 th century,450 urban areas with a population of more than 1 million worldwide have lost about 1/10 of their urban population in total, and about 1 in cities with a population of more than 100,000 worldwide.1/4 is in a state of shrinking population. In 2015,the British media "The Economist" published an article entitled "Northeastern Economy Renews Urgency",which counted the economic growth of the three provinces in the Northeast, the economic imbalance, the old-fashioned planned economic thinking, and the large population outflow. The economy is deteriorating.Although some domestic scholars believe that the British media view is too extreme,it also indirectly defaults to these phenomena in the three northeastern provinces. These phenomena are not the same as the connotation of “shrinking the city”.We can even call it the typical contraction area of China.Based on the regional development phenomenon of the three northeastern provinces and the connotation of contracting cities, this paper constructs a theoretical analysis framework, quantitatively identifies the contracted cities, analyzes the influencing factors of the results, and proposes some possible developments.Countermeasures.The paper is divided into six chapters:Chapter one is introductionThis chapter mainly proposes the background and research significance of the topic, determines the research purpose, research ideas and methods of the paper, and on this basis, constructs the research framework of the paper and designs the technical roadmap of the paper.Chapter 2 case analysis of international shrinking cities and research progress at home and abroadIn this chapter, first of all,the theoretical basis of shrinking city and the research status and progress at home and abroad are described, and the research progress at home and abroad is reviewed from many aspects, and an analysis framework is constructed to explain the shrinking city.Secondly,Liverpool,Cleveland and leipzig are selected as typical cases of international shrinking cities for analysis from multi-dimensional perspectives such as phenomenon and mechanism. The third chapter is the study of spatial recognition of shrinking citiesTaking the economic recession and population loss as the important guidance, the spatial identification of the shrinking cities in the three provinces of northeast China is conducted based on the county scale by using the quantitative means and classifying the types.(1)from 2000 to 2010,among the 179 research areas in the three provinces of northeast China,91 of the permanent residents contracted, and 71 of the registered population contracted. The change of employment population is similar to that of permanent residents, and the population density is basically the same with that of permanent residents in terms of the total amount and degree of shrinkage.(2)from 2000 to 2010,the economic growth rate of the three northeastern provinces showed positive growth except for suihua urban area(-1.216%).The average annual growth rate of per capita GDP was basically consistent with that of GDP.(3)based on two dimensions of population and economy, identify the contraction in 32 cities, roughly divided into six types: slow growth-population development stagnation, slow economic growth-population slow contraction, slow growth-population rapid economic contraction, uniform economic growth-population development stagnation, slow economic growth at a constant speed-population shrinkage, uniform economic growth-population shrinking fast.Chapter four Taking different types of cities as research objects, this paper analyzes the influencing factors of urban contraction in the three northeastern provinces by constructing the index system and using quantitative methods to summarize the formation mechanism of the contracted cities in the three northeastern provinces. The research shows that the main factors affecting the population changes in the three northeastern provinces and the non-shrinking cities in the three northeastern provinces are: GDP,GDP per capita, wages of employees, unemployment rate, employment density, etc. The main factors affecting the population change of the contracted cities in the three northeastern provinces are: unemployment rate, the proportion of the working population and the non-agricultural ratio.Chapter five reconstructs the theoretical analysis framework of China's shrinking citiesThe formation of shrinking cities in China is not exactly the same as that in western countries. This chapter is mainly based on the research of the first four chapters. On the basis of the study of shrinking cities in foreign countries,it adds the factors affecting the shrinking cities in China and tries to construct a theoretical analysis framework to explain the problem of shrinking cities in China.Chapter 6 conclusion and discussionThis chapter summarizes the previous research and draws relevant conclusions, and discusses the deficiencies of the paper and the next step of the work.
