STEM is an acronym for Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics.STEM education is a new type of education that integrates the knowledge of these four subjects.At present,China is actively carrying out activities that integrating STEM education concepts to develop students' innovation ability and problem-solving ability.In this process,China is also trying to explore ways to implement STEM education.In terms of organizational form,most STEM activities take the form of group cooperation in high school biology.However,there is no research on the organization of STEM activities.This study mainly used case analysis method.Collecting and arranging the STEM activity cases that carrying out in high school biology,which are divided into engineering production and experimental exploration.Two activities are respectively selected from these activities with the 5E teaching model as a process and group cooperation as an organizational form,which are analyzed in detail from three aspects: grouping,group activities and group sharing and communication.It is found that group cooperation has the following advantages in organizing STEM activities by analysis.(1)It can cultivate students' cooperative ability,language skills and critical thinking,create a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere and mobilize students' learning initiative.(2)Each group can complete the task in different ways,which fully respects students' differences and personality characteristics and reflects their subject consciousness.(3)The group can analyze the problem from multiple perspectives and decompose a big problem into specific and operable small problems via discussion,which can enable students to understand the interdisciplinary knowledge through thinking.(4)STEM activities involve multiple disciplines.Group members can make use of their advantages to provide various solutions to solve problems and promote the integration of interdisciplinary knowledge to figure out problems.(5)Spirit of scientific inquiry is cultivated through the process of designing scheme,exploration,testing improvement and so on.It is shown that organizing STEM activities with group cooperation is indeed conducive to the cultivation of students' ability and thinking as well as the achievement of STEM activity goals through analysis.Finally,this paper presents the original STEM activity design of "making fish and vegetable symbiosis device" and implements it.Based on the analysis results and the problems that may occur in the implementation of group cooperation,three Suggestions are put forward to organize STEM activities with group cooperation.(1)Group members should divide their works reasonable and define their tasks specific.(2)Teachers should be good at guiding and promoting students' thinking.(3)Improving the evaluation system and promoting the all-round development of students.Hope to analyze relevant STEM activities,draw the advantages of group cooperation in STEM activities,confirm the value of group cooperation in STEM activities,and provide suggestions for the organization of STEM activities in the future,so as to promote the further application of group cooperation in STEM activities.
