| Objective:Emotion regulation refers to the ability to regulate the potency, intensity and duration of an emotional experience. With the continuous development of society, college students in the new era are faced with more life and study pressure, and these pressure events may produce negative emotions. However, college students are not mature physically and mentally and are in an important stage of development. How to correctly guide college students to conduct emotional regulation, improve the efficiency of emotional regulation, get rid of emotional difficulties, and improve their physical and mental health,so as to better adapt to the school and society? Therefore, based on the current situation of college students’ emotional regulation, this study explores which adjustment strategies(acceptance, cognitive reappraisal and expression inhibition)are better for college students in the face of negative emotions. This is of practical and theoretical significance to correctly guide college students to regulate emotions and improve their psychological and physiological health. Methods:This study first adopted the questionnaire method, selected 240 college students in a university, and gave them questionnaires such as emotion regulation strategies,to study the status quo of emotion regulation strategies of college students and their correlation with depression and anxiety. Then,a preliminary experiment was designed to test the effectiveness of experimental materials(emotional pictures). Finally, based on the questionnaire method, subjects with normal levels of anxiety and depression were selected to participate in the formal experiment.Selected 36 college students in a certain university, and a mixed experimental design was conducted using 2(gender: male,female)2(subjects’ types: han and uygur)3(emotion regulation strategies: cognitive reappraisal, expression inhibition, and acceptance). To reevaluate negative valence emotion photo.Experiment comprised a total of five blocks, each block represents a grouping condition, participants were required to watch the neutral and negative emotional pictures freely, and cognitive reappraisal and expression suppression and accepting strategy only watch negative emotional pictures, during event related potential(ERP)recording.Results:(1)there is a significant negative correlation between depression and cognitive reassessment in college students(r=-0.17,P < 0.05),and anxiety and cognitive reassessment have a significant negative correlation(r=-0.20,P < 0.05).(2)The results of subjective emotional experience showed that there was a significant difference in self-reported negative emotional level under the three strategies(F=5.72,p < 0.001),with the subjective emotional experience using the acceptance strategy was higher than cognitive reappraisal and expression inhibition. The electroencephalogram(eeg)results indicated that the late positive potential(LPP)of ERP showed the main effect of the regulation strategy in the amplitude of LPP time window(200~1700ms).In the 200~700ms time window, there was an interaction between the regulation strategy and the type of the subjects. The negative LPP amplitude of the han subjects was significantly lower than that of the reassessment negative, and the negative LPP amplitude of the uygur subjects was significantly lower than that of the reassessment negative. All three emotion regulation strategies can significantly attenuate the amplitude of negative emotion-related LPP,in addition, inhibition of negative and acceptance of negative specific gravity can significantly reduce the amplitude of early LPP.Reassessing and accepting negativism was more effective than suppressing negativism at reducing the amplitude duration of late LPP.Conclusion:In the regulation of negative emotions, the cognitive reappraisal strategy is more effective than the expression inhibition strategy in the han nationality, and the cognitive reappraisal strategy is more effective than the expression inhibition strategy in the uygur nationality.Male students use the expression inhibition strategy better than female students. The model of emotion regulation process should consider the time point of reaction-centered implementation, and it is more efficient to accept the negative than to evaluate and suppress the negative. This also suggests that in daily emotion management, college students are more suitable to adopt acceptance strategies to regulate negative emotions. |
