Nowadays,with the promotion of lifelong education,the improvement of rural chemistry teaching level and the innovation of education have been highly expected in the society.From the author's3-year-teaching experience in rural high schools,it can be seen that chemistry teaching in rural high school is facing some difficulties,such as the gap between students' desire for high-quality resources and realistic conditions,the huge conflict between parents' high expectation and students' low learning foundation and enthusiasm,which seriously restricts the effective improvement of students' comprehensive qualities.Based on the students in Guiyang County No.8 High School,the author explores how to improve the status quo of chemistry learning by closely combining real-world situations with their theoretical learning of textbooks,meanwhile helps to promote students' learning interest and their all-round development practically.This paper first investigated and analyzed the status of high school chemistry situational teaching in Guiyang County No.8 High School through questionnaire survey,and the following results were obtained:situational teaching was conducive to the improvement of students' interest in chemistry learning;Students were positively engaging theteaching activities based on the real-world situations;yet there were also some problems,for instance some teachers were unaware of the importance of such teaching method.Secondly,by reading references and doing investigation,the suitable and effective ways to learn chemistry via real-world situations for rural high school students were summarized including using familiar life scenes and events,local historical materials,daily problems related to chemistry,interesting experiments,buzzwords,etc.Finally,practical classes were designed on the basis of situational-teaching approach.And three complete teaching cases are included in this paper.Two classes at a comparable level were chosen to be the practitioner class and the reference class,both of which were taught in the situational-teaching method for one year.Then the following conclusions were drawn by using the questionnaireb:Situational teaching method can stimulate students' interest in learning and improve students' interest in chemistry learning andachievement.Situational teaching method can improve the chemistry teaching efficiency in rural senior high schools and play a positive role in promoting chemistry teaching in rural senior high schools.Situational teaching unconsciously improves students' emotions,attitudes and values.
