Occupational mobility is a very important part of social mobility.To a large extent,it reflects the openness of society and the development of economy.Among it,it is especially valuable and meaningful to study the occupational mobility of journalists.On the one hand,the influence factors of journalists vary in different times.On the other hand,the mobility of journalists can reflect the features of the time and the changes of the society.CTV is an important institution of China's media industry.It has been at the top of the pyramid of China's television industry.However,more and more famous hosts,experienced journalists and administrative staff chose to leave CTV in recent years.What are the reasons for this “resignation rush”? What are the causes behind this phenomenon? How should we think about it?This dissertation applies qualitative studies to analyze the occupational mobility of CTV employees.By taking the method of observation and interview,the author interviewed representative people who had gone through occupational mobility,and made in-depth observation of CTV employees.The study suggests that the features of the occupational mobility of CTV employees vary in different times.In the golden time of the TV industry,staff of provincial TV stations tended to seek job from CTV.Then,the work force of CTV entered into a phase of stability with only a small number of people leaving.Due to the fast development of new media,plus the difficult situations such as the limited chances of promotion,the increasing difference of income,the changes of public opinions and the decline of the overall industry,some famous hosts and experienced journalists of CTV chose to resign,which caused the instability of the overall work force of CTV.This dissertation further states that if this trend of “bad money driving out the good” cannot be overturned,CTV would be stuck into a hollowing state,in which the talents continuity would be broken and the overall competitiveness would decrease.It will undermine the credibility of CTV in the public and will weaken or even deprive its influence in the mainstream values.Based on the facts,this dissertation suggests that the way of stabilizing the work force of CTV and leading the occupational mobility of CTV into a benign track is to change the traditional system and have a profound reform.That is to establish effective incentive mechanism,to raise the welfare and salaries of the excellent employees,to train talents of all media,to push forward the integration of media and to widen the channel of promotion for CTV employees so that they will have more sense of belongings.On the national level,relative government departments should further regulate the management of new media and create a sound environment of the internet,so that the new media could spread positive energy and help the society and the people establish the right values and world views while playing its roles.
