The purpose of the research was to examine the practice and problem of SBS in the primary school of Addis Ketema Sub City.Descriptive research design was employed to the study.The population size was 1016.Of this total population,187 teachers,105 SB supervisors,who were exercising SBS(40 department heads,30-unit leaders and 35 school supervision committee members),7principals and 6 school Woreda supervisors were included in the sample,and they were selected by systematic random and purposive sampling techniques drawn from the sample schools were involved in the schools.Both close and open-ended questionnaires and interview was the data collection instrument.These instruments were developed by researcher and then checked by my adviser.Micro soft excel techniques were employed to compute the data.Fifty-one close-ended,three open-ended and five interview questionnaires were properly filled in and analyzed with mean value.Result of mean value for the practice of SBS in relation to curriculum that mean value was 1.86),the exercise of SBS concerning to instructional development mean value was 2.11,the practice of staff development mean value was 1.91,and the practice of classroom observation mean value was 2.17 from teachers and SB supervisors’ respondents.This indicates that the exercise of SBS didn’t effectively implement in the primary schools.The study also find that SBS was influenced by several challenges that are associated to the school,the SB supervisors and the customers,it hasn’t also been adequately practiced to promote teacher professional competences,and improve teaching learning processes.Finally,allocating adequate budget by schools;developing guideline,establishing a better organizational structure of SBS by officials from school to Education Bureau level;providing training and reducing work load of SB supervisors by official from school to Region level;and developing clinical and collaborative supervision to alleviate the problems that hampered the practice of SBS are recommendation made by the study.
