Research On The Influence Of Online Games Virtual Marriage On The Interpersonal Communication Of Young Players

The rapid development of information and communication technologies is increasingly affecting the most intimate aspects of people's lives.Online games are one of the platforms of Computer Mediated Communication(CMC).Compared with the traditional Face To Face(FTF)communication,the CMC that communicates with the interpersonal effect in the early stage of development will develop an interpersonal effect(ie,a hyperpersonal effect)that is equal to(or even higher than)the FTF.Marriage in a massively multiplayer role-playing online game(MMORPG)mediates an online intimacy that reflects the interpersonal relationship in the CMC that represents the future interpersonal relationship.From the perspective of interpersonal communication,psychology,and sociology,this study takes the "Fantasy Westward Journey" mobile game with representative game marriage system as a research sample,through questionnaires on player behavior and motivation,and on young people with game marriage experience.In-depth interviews with players,combined with the player community report and the author's two-year participatory observation experience,studied the differences between player gender and game motivation,game marriage and love behavior;the relationship between marriage and love and game marriage and love behavior;game motivation,game marriage Behavior,online self-disclosure,the influence of social interaction behavior;the influencing factors of interpersonal intimacy in game marriage relationship;the influence of game marriage on the interpersonal communication of players.The research conclusions are as follows:1,female players' social motivation is stronger,it is easier to produce game marriage and love behavior;non-single players and even married players will still produce game marriage and love behavior,and even affect the players in the game.2.The player's social motivation has a positive influence on the game's marriage and love behavior;the player's game marriage and love behavior has a positive influence on self-disclosure behavior and social interaction behavior.3.The interpersonal development in the game is influenced by the time of interaction and self-disclosure.The longer the interaction time and the higher the degree of self-disclosure,the higher the intimacy and the higher the interpersonality.4.Game Marriage reshapes the player's game social motivation by changing the player's cognition and satisfying their emotional needs,and the change of motivation will further affect the player's game behavior.5.Compared with other online interpersonal media,the relaxed social environment in the game can help players to enhance communication confidence.The common game tasks and cooperation make the interpersonal relationship more natural and smooth in the initial stage of establishment.6.Due to the cooperation between the game couples,social support and the relaxed and low-pressure social environment in the game,most players think that the game marriage relationship is not superficial,but a positive and serious long-distance relationship.7.Compared with the FTF,online marriage-mediated intimacy can be transformed from online to offline,and game marriage is also conducive to maintaining long-distance relationships.8.Young players will also be negatively affected by the dark side of CMC such as deceptive self-presentation,cyberbullying and jealousy in online game marriage relations.
