With the expansion of college students,more and more ethnic minority students have the chance to enter the university.Ethnic minority students play a very important role for the strategy of “One Belt One Road”.Based on the self-regulated learning theory,the situation and the factors influencing academic adjustment of ethnic minority students are explored by quesionnaires.Some typical participants are chosen for in-depth interviews as supplement and explanation to the quantitative research findings.The results of quantitative study show that the academic adjustment of participants has the following characteristics: First,the overall level of academic adjustment of ethnic minority college students at the University S is in medium level.Second,girls have better environment adjustment than boys.Third,the Dongxiang,Tibetan,Uygur are less adjusted in environment than other ethnic minority students.Fourth,the academic motivation of senior ethnic minority students is the highest,and then is junior,freshman and sophomore students.Fifth,ethnic minority students of humanities have better physical and mental adjustment than students of science.Sixth,there is a significant positive correlation between academic adjustment and academic achievement of ethnic minority students.Lastly,the main factors influencing ethnic minority students' adjustment are ‘difficulty of courses',‘Chinese proficiency',‘class relationships',‘personality',‘course arrangement',‘hometown' and ‘teachers teaching style'.The qualitative research makes some explanation and supplement to the quantitative research.According to the findings of the study,some recommendations are made from the perspective of both ethnic minority students and the college.Before entering the university,ethnic minority students should learn something about the university,as well as their majors,and make preparations for the potential challenges.Correspondingly,university and college should provide some instructions and materials for ethnic minority students.In the initial days,ethnic minority students should make efforts to improve the basic knowledge,develop their own hobbies to relase the pressure.Correspondingly,university and colleges should provide some extra teaching,and give guidances to junior students and show concerns to minority students' special culture need.During the development period,ethnic minority college students should communicate with non-minority students,find appropriate learning methods and pay more attention to the basic knowledge.Correspondingly,university and colleges should strengthen supervision of teachers to improve their teaching skills and ability and pay more attention to ethnic minority students.
