Grandparents' Better Life Later To Be Enjoyed By Grandchildren?

Grandparenting is a form of our family upbringing in our country.It means that the child's growth will be undertaken by their grandparents.While the“Grandparents' Better Life Later to Be Enjoyed by Grandchildren” is an ideal state of life of the traditional Chinese ancestors.At the moment,most of families in rural or urban areas in China is still widely undertook by the grandparents in the education of their grandchildren,but it also has the characteristics of social transformation.Based on the grandparenting of the ancestors acting as grandmother or grandfather of the rural families in the north of China,the paper will make some researches.The source of information is the nine ordinary rural families in the Hebei Province.Considering for the condition of the nine families interviewed,the local grandparenting education is related to the conflicts of young people's job,the improvement of agricultural mechanization,the miniaturization of family structure as well as the needs of the ancestors.The ancestors' responsibility for taking care of their grandchildren's includes the daily care,education as well as the management.In the process of taking care of their grandchildren,their positive and negative experience exist simultaneously;Compared with the parental experience of taking care of their children,the ancestors have increased their time,money,and attentionduring the period of raising their grandchildren.However,the ancestors only performed the education of their grandchildren in the role of “assistant”;If the specific time is divided through the inter-generational parenting stages,the ancestors undertake less work in the early childhood of their grandchildren;The amount of parental work will increase sharply in the pre-school period,and the parental work tends to take care of their grandchildren;the number of parental work will continue to increase in the primary school,and the work is more prone to teach and manage.Finally,compared with the narrow sense of grandparenting education,the grandchildren are less dependent on their grandparents to undertake the parental work in the generalized grandparenting family studied in the paper.
