International education is always an important part of Chinese education.To study international education is of great value and significance.In the last few years,the number of students in Southeast Asia has been expanding under the state-related policies.However,there are still some colleges and universities are facing the problem of lack of students from Southeast Asia,and the problems of cross-cultural communication have become more and more prominent in southeast Asia,which leads to the loss of students.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to study the adaptability of Southeast Asian students' intercultural communication and the motivation of selecting the target universities.The objectives of this study are the Southeast Asian students who studied or are studying in Zhejiang University of Science and Technology.Based on students' real daily life and learning status,Author restored students' psychological,social and academic adaptation in China,and achieved the analysis of Southeast Asian students' cross-cultural communication characteristics and the most influential factors in the special region of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology.Meanwhile,the research leads to a deep understanding of the students' motivation when selecting the target universities,based on this,Author summarized effective advice to improve admission,teaching andmanagement work for the Southeast Asian students.This research has mainly used the questionnaire and interview method to carry on the investigation and research to nearly 250 students.The main conclusions are:1.The intercultural communicative adaptability of Southeast Asian students is in the middle level,and the overall trend is good.The learning adaptability is the highest while the life and social adaptability are basically flat and in the second level.2.The main motivation of Southeast Asian students when selecting the target universities to achieve better employment opportunities in future,personal interests and family arrangements is after.3.With the background of intercultural communication,the motivation of target universities selecting has changed from time to time,while the economic factors,especially the low tuition fee or the scholarship,have always been the biggest motivation of the students' selections.On the basis of the above mentioned conclusions,combined with the actual working situation of international education in Zhejiang University of Science and Technology,Author has summarized the practical suggestions and prospects in enrollment,teaching and management work of Southeast Asian students.First of all,in the recruitment part,the university shall closely integrate the national plannings and local policies,innovative propaganda means,"dress up" brochures,expand all-round recruitment channels without limits;Second,in teaching part,the establishment of characteristic courses,the guarantee of teachers' quality and teaching equipment,full play to the role of the head teachers' ‘bridge effect',great attention to the popularization of education will help with the teaching work promotion;Finally,in the management part,increasing the emotional exchange with students,guaranteeing students' life needs in details,establishing a teacher-student interaction network and Cross-school communication platform,by these means,university can connect with Southeast Asian student groups in-depth.
