The Impact Of Intergenerational Care On The Life Satisfaction Of The Elderly

Intergenerational care will become the future trend of our country,This is determined by China's basic national conditions.It is difficult to reverse,and more ancestors will join this group in the future.As the intergenerational care behavior becomes more common,the situation of the elderly who are responsible for the care of the intergenerational care is not to be ignored.However,China is currently not paying enough attention to the elderly who are cared for by generations.This has caused the needs of this group to be unsatisfied and hindered the improvement of the quality of life of this group.The research method of this paper is qualitative and quantitative.Data were collected by questionnaires and semi-structured interviews to better analyze the impact of intergenerational care on older people's life satisfaction.Subsequently,multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data collected by the questionnaire to study how intergenerational care affects the life satisfaction of the elderly,and to analyze why the independent variables have an impact on the life satisfaction of the elderly.Finally,some thoughts are put forward based on the research results.The study found that the intergenerational care of the elderly includes the cause,type,and content.The reasons for the intergenerational care behavior of the elderly are mainly due to the influence of traditional culture and the consideration of helping children share the pressure.The types of care are divided into day-care and all-day care,while day-care takes both formal and hedonic.In this study,the type of care for the elderly was mainly formal and all-day,indicating that in some families,the elderly bear most of the responsibility for caring for children.The content of elderly care for grandchildren is based on life care.At the same time,emotional support,academic support,and economic support also account for a large proportion.The factors affecting the life satisfaction of the elderly are as follows: First,from the perspective of demography,older people with better health status show higher life satisfaction;for the elderly who are involved in the care of grandchildren,retiree's life satisfaction is higher than farmers' life satisfaction,and female seniors have higher life satisfaction than male seniors.Older people living with their children have lower life satisfaction,and older people who receive more emotional support from their children have higher life satisfaction.Finally,from the perspective of intergenerational care,the longer the care time,the lower the life satisfaction;the lower the life satisfaction of the elderly who provide emotional support;the lower the life satisfaction of the elderly who provide academic support.
