Research On The Spirit Of Runing Waseda University And Its Early Practices

At present,all countries in the world are paying more and more attention to the development of higher education.As an important part of the soft power of higher education culture,the spirit of running a school is of great importance.As a powerful country in higher education,Japan's private universities play a very important role in its higher education system.They have absolute advantages in both the number of students and the number of schools.The reason why Japan's private universities are generally successful in running schools is closely related to the unique running spirit of most Japanese private universities and their adherence to the running spirit as their guiding principle.Waseda University is a representative top private university in Japan and enjoys a high reputation in the world.This paper selects the spirit of Waseda University and the contents of its early practices as the research objects,which can provide useful reference for the construction of the spirit of running a school in China's private universities.In this paper,the historical research method,case study method,literature analysis method and comparative research method are used to study the running spirit and early practices of Waseda University.The first chapter of this article mainly summarizes the background of Waseda University.After the Meiji Reform,the value trend of higher education has changed and the necessity of private universities has gradually become prominent.After Okuma Shigenobu was ousted from power in the " 14-year coup in Meiji",in order to continue to realize Japan's constitutional path as soon as possible,he came up with the idea of "left-handed party,right-handed school".So he founded the Constitutional Improvement Party in 1881 and joined the establishment of Tokyo Special School with 8 graduates of Tokyo University the following year.This chapter also gives a brief review of his life,since he was the main founder.The second chapter mainly tells the running spirit and early practices of Waseda University.The connotation,causes and contents of early practices of opposition,common people,independence,resistance and enterprising spirit are discussed respectively.This chapter also compares the running spirit of Waseda University with that of Keio University and Doshisha University in the same period.The last chapter discusses the influence of Waseda University's running spirit and its enlightenment to China's private universities.Through the study of Waseda University's running spirit and the related contents of its early practices,we can give the following enlightenment to China's private universities: the running spirit is powerful and should be paid more attention to.We should build a distinctive spirit of running a school and highlight its characteristics.The spirit of running a school should be combined with the requirements of the times.Adherence to running a school requires long-term adherence in order to play its greatest role.
