This comprehensive research reveals the role of both community participation and government support towards community health promotion in Sierra Leone. The role of community participation towards community health promotion in Sierra Leone continues to have its own share of shortcomings. The unfavorable trends in the country for the past decades have not spared the health sector.Challenges like incompetent and inadequate medical practitioners, poor and under-equipped health centers,non-existence state of the art medical facilities, and the necessary logistics among others are highly limited in proportion to the required demand and growing population;especially in the rural periphery. In lieu of this, the study tends to unearth the role of both the government and the community in health promotion via policy formulation.Theoretical innovation has been used to penetrate the trend of this research.Data for this study was collected primarily through questionnaires generated given the objectives of the study. In collecting the data,300 questionnaires were distributed to the targeted respondents of which 256 were filled completely and returned to the researcher translating to 85.3 percent response rate. After validating for sample adequacy and data validity and reliability, the study tested for relationships hypothesized in the study using robust statistical tools and models. The hierarchical regression revealed a positive association between policy for community health promotion and government support and community participation on success in community health promotion. This implies that by implementing policies for community health promotion that demonstrate success, the government and communities are likely to be perceived as offering high levels of support for the policy. The results of this study accentuate the role of government support and community participation towards health promotion. The findings supported the hypothesized relationships via inferential statistics. The study is crucial at it provides in-depth insights on community participation and government support towards community health promotion. The study also offers key specific policy recommendation for health promotion through community participation and governmental support.
