Due to special background of Hong Kong’s colonial history,as the subject of Chinese History,its important responsibility for national education has been neglected for a long time.With Hong Kong’s return to its motherland,the Hong Kong authorities began to attach importance to education curriculum reform for better coordination with political transition.The national identity of young students’ status in Hong Kong,the developing history of Chinese History and the curriculum as focus,this thesis compares national identity of Hong Kong,Macao,young students and the curriculum for the Chinese History.Aiming at giving suggestions,it analyzes history of Hong Kong and Hong Kong youth problem between national identity.The first chapter,as introduction part,mainly discusses background and significance of this topic.Since Hong Kong’s handover,the group’s survey results show that young students of Hong Kong show fuzzy and unclear attitude towards definitions of national identity and identity itself,moreover more youth group’s violence occurs frequently.Many experts and scholars in Chinese History field focusing on Hong Kong’s special courses,altogether put forward that Chinese History plays a key role in influencing national identity of Hong Kong’s young students.The second chapter mainly explains and narrates key words,related concepts and their relations.Firstly,it explains proper nouns such as history and Chinese History.Secondly,the concept of national identity is briefly described.There are many studies on defining concept of national identity.This paper focuses on explaining classical connotation of national identity and extension of national identity concept relevant to this paper.In the end,the paper scientifically demonstrates relationship between Chinese History and national identity by applying basic principles of Marxism.The third chapter reviews development of Chinese History in Hong Kong.Before Hong Kong’s return,Chinese History subject finally became a triton of the minnows among all subjects independently.However,with several important educational reforms after return of Hong Kong,Chinese History subject faced challenges as "marginalization" and "abolition".Chapter four analyzes influence of Chinese History curriculum’s changes on changes of young students’ national identity in Hong Kong based on mass data describing status of young students’ national identity over years since return of Hong Kong.It can be found that each curriculum weakening drives students from preference to rejection of ChineseHistory,and it meanwhile shows that young students’ sense of national identity is becoming weaker and weaker.Mass data analysis shows that Chinese History curriculum reform is positively correlated with the national identity of young students in Hong Kong.In last chapter,based on previous analysis and summary,the author promotes modification of Chinese History curriculum in Hong Kong and improvement of situation of young people’s national identity.To improve national identity of young students in Hong Kong,it is necessary to optimize Chinese History subject.Secondly,unifying teaching material and history installment as well as standardization training of Hong Kong’s teaching staff are required.Finally,the relationship between Hong Kong’s and China’s History should be properly dealt with.
