An Empirical Research On National Identity Of College Students From Hong Kong And Macao In Mainland

National identity is the belonging sense of nation’s citizens, theevaluation of the ethnic, culture and politic, the sublimation of ethnic andcultural identity, the premise to maintain national political stability, theguarantee to realize the integration of national construction. With thecontinuous deepening of reform and opening up with the high speeddevelopment of the social economy in our country, many kinds of unhealthythoughts have influenced on our national identity. After the Hong Kong andMacao’s return to the motherland, promoting and enhancing the nationaleducation is becoming the important measure to improve the national unityand social stability in Hong Kong and Macao.Huaqiao University and Jinan University are national bases of overseasChinese education which have large number of foreign students. Taking HongKong and Macao students of these two universities as example, collectingrelevant data by questionnaire and case interview, then perform statisticalanalysis by use mathematical statistics method. Through the investigation andstatistical analysis, we found that the education of national identity ofmainland universities is inadequate, the content of political identity, citizenidentity and institutional identity are ignored. In order to promote and enhancethe Hong Kong and Macao students’ national identity, we can proceed fromideological education, institution building, personnel training and theconstruction of campus culture.
