"Modeling/model" has been one of the hot topics in international physics education research in the past ten years.The "physics model and modeling" appears as frequently as 75 times in the newly revised "physics curriculum standards for ordinary senior high school(2017 edition)" in China,and "model construction" is taken as the core element of scientific thinking,which is a vital component of core physics competences.It can be seen that "physics model teaching" is an efficient measure to break through the traditional patterns,help front-line teaching innovation and develop new talent training models,no matter from the perspective of the teaching concept of cultivating students or the reform concept of educational development.Firstly,based on the literature review of physical model teaching research at home and abroad,this paper mastered the general situation of the research in this field systematically,discussed the definition of some concepts like "model","physics model","physics modeling" and "physics model teaching",and analyzed the supportive role of the research results about "intrinsic motivation theory" and "constructivism learning theory" as well as other educational and psychological theories to the teaching of physics model,which has laid a theoretical foundation for this study.Next,the physics model and the related requirements of its construction in the "physics curriculum standards for ordinary senior high school(2017 edition)" were analyzed.Besides,based on the requirements of the new curriculum standards,the physical models involved in high school physics textbooks were systematically analyzed and sorted out to make the physics models in high school physics contents explicit and model teaching requirements specific.The current situation of physics model teaching is the realistic basis of model teaching,so a questionnaire was conducted in the present study towards some high school students and teachers respectively to understand the current teaching situation of physical model under the background of core competences and the situation of students’ modeling ability.The investigation shows that both teachers and students agree with the positive value of physical model and its construction,and teachers have a certain degree of training on students’ modeling ability.However,the teachers’ low understanding of the new curriculum standard and the core physics competences leads to insufficient understanding of the model requirements in the new curriculum standard.In addition,teachers and students do not have a deep understanding of physical model,and the frequency of modeling activities and application of model in teaching is not high.In response to the problems discovered by the investigation,put forward teaching strategies and teaching suggestions from the two dimensions of "early stage" and "implementation" of physical model teaching,combined with the concepts and requirements of new curriculum standards.Finally,according to the proposed physics model teaching strategies,two specific teaching cases were designed to integrate the model teaching with the cultivation of students’ core competences,so as to realize the connection between physics teaching and the ideas of new curriculum standards and provide reference for front-line teachers to carry out model teaching.
