General secondary education is at the position which links the preceding with the following in the whole education system.The first recognized general secondary school of China was founded in Tianjin in modern times and with the academic structure changes and the impact of the war,general secondary education in Tianjin has shown its obvious stages and related characteristics.The study of the general secondary education in recent times can not only fill in the blanks of the related area Tianjin but also serve as a reference for today's relevant education.The research is spread out with the method of historical study and literature research.First,historical data collection,sorting and research of the ordinary high school education in Tianjin is to be accomplished which is based on to conclude the reason of inductive rise of the general secondary school,then we will tease out the general secondary stage of development,phase characteristics and school running condition in recent times of Tianjin,finally,summarize the shortcomings of general secondary education and obtain the related enlightenment.This paper is mainly made up of five parts:The introduction part describes the option purpose of the thesis topic,objective and significance of this research and concepts definition of recent times,Tianjin and secondary education.Besides,introduce the research ideas,study methods along with the key points difficulties and innovation aspects of the work.Meanwhile,expound the academic research status of secondary education in recent years.The first chapter focuses on the rise of secondary school in Tianjin.Research is carried out by analyzing 5 key reasons,including national political crisis,economic and technological development,policy support,educators' active practice and church secondary school.The second chapter divides 5 stages from year 1895-1949:rise stage(1895—1911)?transition Phase(1912—1921)?exploration phase(1922—1936)?depressed stage(1937—1945)?recovery and reconstruction phase(1946—1949),meanwhile,analyzes the establishment of the general secondary periodic characteristics of each stage in detail.The third chapter discusses the administrative management in general secondary of Tianjin from two aspects,including educational administration and school management.The fourth chapter introduces the general secondary schools profiles of Tianjin overall and has a detailed exposition in the aspects of education administration,funds origin and disbursement,disciplines and courses,assessment and evaluation,The appointment and treatment of teachers,along with extracurricular activities for students.The epilogue makes a summarize on the general secondary school development deficiencies of Tianjin and the enlightenment obtained,With a view to contribute some inspiration and reference value to the modern general secondary education.
