As an important constituent part of the education cause,social education exerts important influence on the social development.Modern social education in Tianjin was firstly developed in the late Qing Dynasty,and in the Republic of China,it yielded long-term development.Its development presents not only the generality of the national consistency but also the individuality of education in Tianjin.As a constituent part of modern education in Tianjin,the research on the modern social education in Tianjin occupies an important position in the research of the education history in Tianjin,and plays a certain role as a reference for the current promotion of social education in Tianjin.The research method of literature review and history study is mainly adopted in this paper.Through the analysis of the historical data andliteratures,the current development of modern social education in Tianjin is presented,and the characteristics of the development of social education in Tianjin in different periods are summarized.Moreover,the development of social education in Tianjin is analyzed and evaluated.This paper includes the following parts:Introduction,which includes question posing,the definition of core concepts,literature review,as well as the objective,significance,train of thought and methods of research.Chapter One covers the germination stage of social education(1860-1911).In this chapter,the causes of the germination of modern social education in Tianjin,as well as the facilities and characteristics of social education in this stage are elaborated.Chapter Two to Chapter Five covers the establishment stage(1912-1918),development stage(1919-1926),flourishing stage(1927-1936)and maintenance stage(1937-1949)of social education.In these chapters,institutions,general situation and characteristics of social education are introduced respectively.In the conclusion part,how the development of modern social education in Tianjin has enlightened the implementation of contemporary social education in Tianjin is summarized.
