A Study Of Social Self-organization In National Reading

After the reform and opening up,China's economy has made remarkable development of the world,the enrichment of material life makes people began to pay more attention to spiritual life.With the promotion and development of national reading,the reading culture is becoming more and more prevalent.Now,reading is becoming a way of life.Atthe same time,as the state relaxes the control of the societies,various social organizations organized by citizens continue to expand.In this social background,the reading circle as a social self-organization which activity forms is reading in the group.The reading circle has entered the golden age of its development,and has become a nonnegligible social phenomenon.Although we recognized that the first modem reading circle appeared in 1902,but the reading circle have its historical origins in China,such as the literary society the and poetry society in ancient China,the academic society in the Republic of China Period and the underground reading circle in the cultural revolution period.Now,with the promotion and development of national reading,the number of reading circle will be more and more.The paper wants to be presented the present situation,characteristics,influences and the reflected social facts of the reading circle.The study taking the reading circle of Nanjing as the research objects,by means of interview,participant observation and content analysis to investigate and analyze.Although the type of reading circle in Nanjing is different,has a diversity of the resultant forms,including loose,community,social enterprise and internal type.Individual standard,spontaneity,equality and semi-open are the main characteristics of the reading eircle.This paper is to make a study of the internal organization and management structure,external relations network and economic mechanism of the reading circle.Try to reveal the organizational form and the basis of autonomy of the reading circle.In the new media era,the organization and publicity of the reading circle become more efficient and convenient,and the emergence of online reading circle has broken the limit of time and space.However,there will be some problems that constrain the development of the reading circle,such as the monopoly of discourse power,the lack of continuity and the ritualization of reading.The function of reading circle focus on two levels.On one hand,the reading circle achieves the accumulation of cultural capital and the interpersonal comnunication.On the other hand,the reading circle promotes the construction of the public sphere.The prosperity of the reading circle showing the epitome of individual,organization and national.In order to maintain class advantage or reach upward mobility,the individuals is eager for cultural capital.With the development of economy,the middle class and social self-organization is expanding and the public audience and civil society is growing.Although the national reading activities have been well known by the public,we should avert to transform reading activities into reading movement.Only when reading is accepted and loved by more people,reading can change China.
