A Study On The Influence Of Gender Consciousness On Women's Political Participation

Since the 1950s,the road to equality of women's political rights in China has been officially opened.The policy of equality between men and women,the development of social economy,the improvement of women's education level,and the emergence of the quota system have led to a stable recovery in the proportion of women's political participation.However,the gender norms based on the traditional gender culture still affect the activities of women in the political field.Exploring the motivation of political participation from the perspective of women's own gender consciousness is a confirmation of the impact on gender norms.And it is also a new perspective in the study of women's political participation.In this paper,the literature co-word analysis is used to draw the knowledge graph of the theme of women's political participation research.Six themes of women's political participation research are excavated:the overall study of women's political participation,the practice of women's political participation,rural women's political participation,female cadres,women's political participation system and policy,women's political participation movement.Based on the data of the 2012 Chinese General Social Survey,an empirical analysis of women's gender consciousness and political participation is carried out.The results show that:first,there is a correlation between women's gender consciousness and political participation;And there are different effects on different types of political participation:(l)women's gender consciousness is negatively correlated with their voting behavior;(2)the more modern women with gender consciousness,the higher the degree of their political group participation and local affairs discussions.Women with more traditional gender awareness do the opposite.Second,there are also differences in the impact of urban and rural women's gender consciousness on political participation:(l)urban women with strong gender consciousness are more likely to participate in local affairs discussions than rural women;(2)urban women's gender consciousness is positively correlated with political group participation,while the relationship between rural women's gender consciousness and political group is not significant;(3)there is no significant relationship between urban and rural women's gender consciousness and voting behavior.
