Armenia is a country,which played a very important role in the ancient traditional Silk Road trade.Armenia has had an inseparable relationship with China since ancient time.In addition to the "One Belt,One Road" initiative in recent years,Armenia still remains as one of the important member states of the Silk Road on the land.Armenia has entered into many cooperation with China.These include economic and trade cooperation,diplomatic cooperation,infrastructural and educational cooperation,etc.In the field of education,the Armenian government has introduced Chinese language courses in its secondary schools and universities and has cooperated with the Chinese department of the Armenian Confucius Institutes to introduce Chinese as one of the most important foreign language courses.There are currently seven middle schools in Armenia that offer Chinese language courses.These were the first middle schools in Armenia to make the Chinese language a compulsory course.Research about the teaching of the Chinese language at the Chekhov Middle School in Yerevan is a good representation for understanding the entire situation and phenomenon of teaching Chinese in other middle schools in Armenia.The research objects of this paper are the teachers and students of Chekhov Middle School in Yerevan.Different research methods were used for this research paper.These include,literature review,questionnaire,and interview as well as observation method.During the research,711 and 9 questionnaires were given to teachers and students respectively.Finally,600 valid questionnaires were collected from students,while 9 valid questionnaires were collected from teachersThe survey revealed that,students of the school are generally not interested in Chinese language courses.Even though students are able to answer questions in the classroom,however,their attitude towards learning Chinese is generally poor.The Chinese Language teachers in the school have professional knowledge and teaching experience,and can freely use various teaching methods to achieve better teaching results.The textbooks currently used by the school are the Russian version of "Happy Chinese",but the language that the teachers use in the classroom is English.The lack of localized Chinese textbooks is the most important problem for teaching Chinese in Armenia.In addition,the Chinese curriculum is not perfect and the lack of diverse teaching equipment are the areas where the school can strengthen and improve its hardware faciliticsIn general,although the implementation of teaching Chinese language in Chekhov Middle School in Yerevan,Armenia,has led to the development of Chinese teaching in the entire Armenian middle schools to a certain point,however,because the learning situation and performance of the students in the school is not ideal,so in reality,the purpose(of stimulating the Chinese learning)has not been achieved.The author thinks that the rapid development of teaching Chinese in middle schools in Armenia can only be achieved by holistically finding out the problems and solving them.
