Indonesian Chinese education has been banned for more than 30 years and had a serious impact on Chinese language education across the country.After more than 20 years of hard work,Chinese education has made great progress,but compared with other parts of Southeast Asia,it is still relatively weak,and the development between regions is not balanced.It is necessary to conduct comprehensive and in-depth research on Chinese education in different regions.It is necessary to conduct comprehensive and in-depth research on Chinese education in different regions,which is proposed to promote the development of local Chinese education.As the capital of Central Java,Semarang is one of the regions with a good development of Chinese education,Chinese education also hold the important position.The different stages of Chinese education have a certain degree of development,and primary school,as the basis of national education,has provided a steady stream of students for Chinese education,and is the most important part of Chinese international promotion.Among of the many factors affecting Chinese teaching,teachers play an important role,especially for countries like Indonesia with a special social historical and cultural background.This paper takes the Chinese teachers in the primary schools in Semarang as the research object,and uses the questionnaire survey method,interview method,classroom observation method and literature analysis method to analyze the basic situation,teaching situation,professional attitude,teaching quality and teaching methods of local Chinese teachers in Semarang systematically and statistically.The survey found that although Chinese education has been incorporated into the Indonesian national education system,the development in Semarang has not yet reached expectations.On the issue of teachers,there are problems such as a serious shortage of local Chinese teachers,insufficient educational literacy and various aspects of language teaching methods,and also unclear career development prospects.In response to these problems,the author proposes improvement suggestions accordingly.For example,to deliver more excellent Chinese teachers from China and to conduct various types of teacher training;to establish a China-Indonesia cooperation teacher school in the Semarang to cultivate professional Chinese teachers;improve the treatment and status of local Chinese teachers by improving the positioning of Chinese subjects,in order to attract more people to participate in Chinese education and promote the development of Chinese education in Semarang.
