In the era of rapid development of information technology,the demand for compound scientific and technological talents with high comprehensive literacy and innovative ability has increased dramatically.STEM curriculum with the core goal of cultivating innovative and interdisciplinary talents emerged as the times require.The STEM curriculum originated in 1980's in the United States,which merges science,technology,engineering and mathematics on the basis of problem-based learning,project-based learning and engineering design.It has trained a large number of scientific and technological innovative talents and alleviated the crisis of declining national competitiveness in the United States.This has a very important reference significance for the strategy of "rejuvenating the country through science and education".In this paper,the curriculum objectives,content and evaluation of STEM education in K-12 stage in the United States will be studied in depth,which will provide reference for the reform of science curriculum in China.The paper is divided into the following parts:The first part elaborates the research background and literature review of this paper,as well as the research content,purpose and research methods of this paper.The second part elaborates the definition of STEM education and curriculum in the K-12 stage in the United States,including STEM,STEM curriculum,K-12 stage and other concepts.The third part get a systematic exposition of the curriculum objectives,content and evaluation of STEM in the U.S.K-12 stage,a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of STEM curriculum is given.In the fourth part,the typical cases of STEM curriculum in K-12 stage in the United States are analyzed,including STEM curriculum in the first grade,sixth grade,junior high school and senior high school.The fifth part summarize the essential characteristics of STEM curriculum in the U.S.K-12 stage,and make a summary and reflection on the full text.
