In the rise of new-style education in the late Qing Dynasty,textbooks,as a key to enlighten the people's wisdom and popularize education,were paid close attention to by the intellectuals and revolutionary strategists in the late Qing Dynasty.Among them,Chinese textbooks bear the brunt.How to give full play to the enlightening role of Chinese textbooks,the intellectual community has its own unique thinking and exploration.In the late Qing Dynasty,vernacular,as a different medium and stylistic form,was regarded as an important discourse tool and thought-speaking method in the reform of textbooks in the late Qing Dynasty.As one of the explorers of Chinese textbooks,Lin Wanli advocated the idea of "unifying speech as the basis for unifying the country" and "unifying speech as the reason for reforming politics and practiced the practice of improving Chinese textbooks.This article puts the reform of Chinese textbooks into the historical background of the"Vernacular Revolution" in the late Qing Dynasty,analyzes the texts of three sets of Chinese textbooks,and explores the use of vernacular textbooks as a "civilized weapon" in the Qing Dynasty to realize the goal of opening up the people's wisdom."Primary Primary School Textbook" and "Women's Mandarin Textbook" were the first textbooks named after "Mandarin".Lin Wanli was based on the editorial idea of"unified speech",and adopted different textbooks in the re-election and textual transformation of the ideological content.Strategies,these strategies not only reflect Lin Wanli's work in the improvement of textbooks,but also reflect the ideological revolutionary picture of the society in the late Qing Dynasty.As a Chinese textbook of the first national theme of the military,Lin Wanli abandoned the vernacular narrative and changed it to the classical Chinese.This "literary remarks" responded to the needs of the "military national education" in the late Qing Dynasty.It reveals Lin Wanli's ideal and strategy as a pioneer of the vernacular revolution to save the country and save the nation.In the late qing dynasty and the early republic of China,the social transformation and social ideological trend took place in a period of violent turbulence.Lin Wanli's textbooks emerged as a representative of modern new-style Chinese textbooks.From"Mandarin Textbooks" to "Military National Readers",modern intellectuals tried to save the nation from extinction.They realized that using textbooks to expose the old customs of traditional China,popularizing knowledge in a way that is more acceptable to the people,awakening the weak scientific concepts,national consciousness and patriotism of the Chinese people,laid a solid foundation for the arrival of the vernacular revolution during the New Culture Movement.It has made great contributions to the modernization of Chinese education.
