Chinese course has gradually become a mainstream subject,and an increasing number of Thai students start to learn Chinese language.Academic achievement,as one of the criteria for evaluating students' learning situation,is influenced by many factors,and learning motivation is one of the vital influencing factors.Currently,there is relatively more research on the motivation of Thai students in Chinese learning,but there are a few studies on the correlation between learning motivation and academic achievement of Thai middle school students,thus the author decides to probe into the correlation between Chinese learning motivation and academic achievement of students in Chinese learning school in eastern Thailand.In accordance with the research on the theories of D?rnyei's three-leveled learning motivation and Gardner and lambert's the learning motivation,this paper refers to the design of the previous questionnaire on the learning motivation of students in middle school in Thailand,designs the motivation questionnaire via a combination of the author's actual teaching situation during the teaching period of Sawang Boriboon Witaya School,and investigates and analyzes the learning motivation of Chinese language of 387 middle school students in the middle school department of Sawang Boriboon Witaya School.By extracting factors and in the light of D?rnyei's three-leveled learning motivation,this paper divides the motivation types of Chinese language learning of middle school students in Sawang Boriboon Witaya School into language level,learner level and situation level.What's more,on this basis,this paper analyzes and verifies whether there is a significant positive correlation between middle school students' learning motivation and academic achievement,and whether gender,age,Chinese background and learning time exert remarkable influence on the correlation.The results of the investigation and analysis indicate that there is a notable positive correlation between Chinese learning motivation and academic achievement of students in Chinese school in eastern Thailand,among which the strongest correlation is language level motivation,followed by situation level motivation,andfinally learner level motivation.Moreover,gender,age and learning time have significant influence on the correlation between learning motivation and learning achievement.At the end of the study,on the basis of interviews with local teachers and other volunteer teachers,combined with the author's actual teaching experience and motivation,this paper proposes some teaching advice on how to stimulate the learning motivation of middle school students in Chinese schools in eastern Thailand.
