Internships are more and more popular in higher education[1],an internship is an important part for students to gain first-hand exposure to working in the real world whereas they can prepare themselves for the future careers.People with high career expectations are willing to accept their challenging jobs,embrace career goals,and increase work-related skills[2].Students who had internships will turn out to be better prepared to enter the workplace than those who do not[3].The research study recognizes the importance of understanding student career expectations to improve student's attitudes toward internship experience,skill development,and self-efficacy that could lead students to success and competitiveness of their career in the future.Therefore,the study has developed a research relationship model for understanding the relationship between internship experience,skill development,and self-efficacy with career expectations on university students and fresh graduates who have participated in internships in Cambodia.One of the research questions was "What is the impact of internship experience on career expectation of students who has done an internship?".The various relationships built in the research model were hypothesized,the model was tested using the data collected.The quantitative method was adapted to identify statistically significant results and provide an in-depth understanding of the impact.Reliability and validity were used to confirm the usefulness of the survey questionnaire.202 participants provided their responses to the online survey through Facebook's Messenger that was sent.Specifically,Statistical Package for Social Science(SPSS)was used to analyze statistical data including Frequency,Descriptive,Reliability and validity,Exploratory Factor analysis,Multiple Response,Correlation,and Multiple Linear Regression(MLR)analysis.The finding indicated that three hypotheses were supported.there is a positive effect of internship experience on career expectations of students who have done an internship,were found to have an influence on career expectations as well as skill development and self-efficacy.Among the three internship experience was found to be the most influential factor that impacts on career expectation.The importance and implications of these internship experiences,skill development,and self-efficacy on career expectations for the future competitiveness of students of university students and fresh graduates are then identified.These findings contribute significantly to help students recognize the importance of enhancing experiences,skills,and understand the future career condition so that they can train themselves in preparing for their future career.
