Modeling is an important element of scientific thinking.In China,modeling has been given an important status like never before,It is considered to be an important content of the core literacy of physics and an indispensable ability in scientific learning.In the process of teaching,it is necessary to strengthen the development of students' modeling thinking ability,so as to improve students' ability to analyze and solve problems.It is of great significance to improve students' scientific literacy,which can provide reference for teaching.Therefore,the integration of "Modeling instruction" and "Learning progression" have very important research value.This research combs and analyzes the relevant domestic and foreign research literature on modeling ability and learning advancement.Based on the modeling research of Hestenes and Halloun,the modeling ability of students is divided into five parts: model selection ability,model construction ability,model validation ability,model application ability and model deployment ability.Through the descriptive assumptions made by Yang Yiwen's modeling capability analysis indicators,based on the solo classification of Biggs in Australia,divide students' modeling ability into five levels,construct an advanced theoretical framework for students' modeling ability.Through the research on the cross grade test samples from the first year of junior high school to the first year of senior high school,there was no significant difference in modeling ability between Grade 7 and grade 9;there is a significant difference between the modeling ability of Grade 10 students and that of grade 9 and grade 7 students.On this basis,in order to promote the advanced development of students' modeling ability,several typical modeling Instruction modes are taken as the theoretical basis and combined with the teaching practice of middle schools in China,the modeling Instruction mode based on the advanced development of modeling ability is constructed from two dimensions of modeling process and modeling Instruction process.This research selects the "light phenomenon" content in middle school physics,and conducts teaching practice in two control classes(experimental group and control group),compares and analyzes the distribution and main advanced development path of modeling ability of two groups of students before and after teaching,The main results show that:(1)The ability of model selection,model construction,model validation,model application and model deployment of students in Grade 7 and grade 9 are only at level 0 and level 1;the ability of modeling in all dimensions of students in Grade 10 is higher than that of students in Grade 7 and grade 9.(2)Modeling Instruction mode based on the advanced development of modeling ability can be carried out in middle school teaching,And it is effective for the development of advanced modeling ability of students.The development of modeling teaching in model construction and model deployment ability is more significant than that of traditional teaching,but it still needs further development in model selection,model validation and model application ability.(3)There are many puzzles for students' understanding of light phenomenon before teaching.Modeling Instruction can promote students' understanding of light phenomenon.
