For a long time, the compilation of geography textbooks for senior high schools in China has followed the principle of "one standard and multiple copies",and each version has its own characteristics. In January 2018 Sinomap Pressthe Ministry of Education officially promulgated? the Standards for General Senior High School Geography Curriculum(2017 Edition)?(hereinafter referred to as the "Curriculum Standards").In 2019,the new edition of PEP,Hunan Education Publishing House,Shandong Education Press and Sinomap Press of high school geography textbooks were put into use,and different regions are facing the problem of selecting and using new textbooks. In order to make a correct selection of teaching materials, each region needs to make an objective evaluation of the quality of textbooks, and the difficulty of textbooks is an important factor affecting the quality of textbooks.Based on this, this paper takes compulsory course 1 "the atmosphere on the earth" as the research object, applies the quantitative analysis model of textbook difficulty, and makes a comprehensive measurement and evaluation of the difficulty of the four versions of textbooks,in the hope of providing reference and relevant Suggestions for textbook writers, textbook selectors and front-line teachers. The main research work of this paper is as follows:1.Review a large amount of data, analyze, classify and summarize the existing literature on the difficulty of textbooks and the difficulty of geography textbooks, and makes a detailed analysis of the basic framework and specific content of "the atmosphere on the earth" in the new geography textbooks of PEP,Hunan Education Publishing House,Shandong Education Press and Sinomap Press respectively, and divides the research dimensions of the difficulty of textbooks.2.Based on the model of international comparative study on the difficulty of science textbooks in primary and secondary schools: N=G×S,a quantitative analysis model of the difficulty of knowledge content in high school geography textbooks was preliminarily developed. With reference to the exploration and expansion difficulty model developed by professor Liao Boqin: Difficulty=Depth/Breadth,the quantitative analysis model of exploration difficulty and expansion difficulty in senior high school geography textbooks was preliminarily developed.By referring to the comprehensive difficulty model of mathematics developed by Bao Jiansheng, aquantitative analysis model of the difficulty of exercises in senior geography textbooks was preliminarily established.3.Invite experts,first-line teachers and graduate students to assign values according to the quantitative analysis model and assignment standard of each difficulty initially formulated by the author, modify the assignment standard in combination with expert opinions, and then conduct a new round of assignment, and finally obtain a relatively complete quantitative analysis model and assignment standard of each difficulty.4.Collect the assignment data and substitute it into the quantitative analysis model of each difficulty, conduct quantitative analysis of the difficulty in each dimension of the four versions of high school geography textbooks, and then, based on the conclusion of this paper, put forward reasonable Suggestions for textbook writers, selectors and teachers. This paper finds that the difficulty of knowledge content, exploration, exercise and expansion in the four versions of senior high school geography textbooks all show some differences. The specific research results are as follows:1.Difficulty of knowledge content: in terms of breadth, the breadth of Shandong Education Press and PEP is similar and larger, while that of Sinomap Press and Hunan Education Publishing House is similar and smaller;in terms of depth, the depth of the four editions of high school geography textbooks is similar. The final result of the difficulty of knowledge content:Shandong Education Press > PEP > Sinomap Press > Hunan Education Publishing House.2.Difficulty of exploration: In terms of breadth,PEP and the Chinese version are the same and have the largest breadth, followed by Hunan Education Publishing House, and Shandong Education Press is the smallest;in terms of depth,Sinomap Press is the deepest, followed by PEP and Hunan Education Publishing House,Shandong Education Press is the shallowest. The final result of exploring the difficulty: Sinomap Press> PEP> Hunan Education Publishing House>Shandong Education Press.3.Difficulty of exercises: In terms of background level,Hunan Education Publishing House is the most difficult, followed by PEP and Sinomap Press, and Shandong Education Press is the smallest. In terms of depth level,Hunan Education Publishing House is the most difficult, followed by Shandong Education Press and Sinomap Press,PEP is the smallest. In terms of the way of setting questions,Hunan Education Publishing House is the most difficult, the Shandong Education Press is equal to Sinomap Press, and PEP is the smallest;in terms of knowledge content,Sinomap Press is the most difficult, followed by Hunan Education Publishing Houseand Shandong Education Press,PEP is the smallest. The final result of the difficulty of the exercise:Hunan Education Publishing House>Sinomap Press> PEP> Shandong Education Press.4.Difficulty of development: the four versions of high school geography textbook development materials show consistency in breadth and depth, that is,Sinomap Press is the largest, followed by Hunan Education Publishing House and PEP,Shandong Education Press is the smallest. The final result of the difficulty expansion: PEP> Hunan Education Publishing House>Sinomap Press > Shandong Education Press.
