With the deepening of the geography curriculum reform, the Ministry of Education has issued 2017 edition of Senior High School Geography Curriculum Standard, and various new editions of high school geography textbooks came into being. The problem of how to choose suitable geography textbooks needs to be solved urgently.Comparing the difficulty of different editions of geography textbooks can not only provide a reference for a new round revision, but also provide a basis for region selection and teachers' use, thereby reducing students' academic burden and achieving all-round development.Based on this, the article selects the widely used Geography 1 published by People's Education Press and Geography 1 published by China Cartographic Press as the research objects, constructs a quantitative model of textbook difficulty, and use literature analysis method, comparative analysis method, quantitative analysis method and content analysis method to conduct comparative research on its static difficulty,in order to make suggestions for authors, selectors and users of geography textbooks. The main work of this paper is as follows:1.Consult numerous domestic and foreign literature on the difficulty quantification of textbooks, sort, analyze and summarize them.By analyzing the frame structure and basic content of Geography 1 published by People's Education Press and Geography 1 published by China Cartographic Press,it is concluded that the main factors affecting the static difficulty of geography textbooks are knowledge content difficulty and activity exploration difficulty.2.Divide the dimensions and levels of knowledge content difficulty and activity exploration difficulty, formulate the evaluation criteria and weights, and construct a quantitative model of knowledge content difficulty and a quantitative model of activity exploration difficulty. The quantitative model of knowledge content difficulty refers to the improved version of Shi Ningzhong's curriculum difficulty quantitative model:N'n=aXn+(1-?)Yn.The quantification model of activity exploration difficulty refers to the Liao Boqin's exploration difficulty model:Difficulty of inquiry=depth of inquiry/breadth of inquiry.3.Invite experts and scholars to quantify the initial assignment of Curriculum Standard,Geography 1 published by People's Education Press and Geography 1 published by China Cartographic Press according to the assignment criteria.Revise the evaluation criteria based on the opinions of experts, invite experts and scholars to assign again, and obtain the final quantitative data.4.Substitute the data into the quantitative model of knowledge content difficulty and the quantitative model of activity exploration difficulty, compare the difficulty of dimensions and themes between Geography 1 published by People's Education Press and Geography 1 published by China Cartographic Press.Based on the research conclusions, provide suggestions for the authors, selectors and users of geography textbooks. The main research conclusions of this paper are as follows:In terms of knowledge content difficulty,The geography textbooks are both higher than Curriculum Standard, and Geography 1 published by People's Education Press is higher than Geography 1 published by China Cartographic Press.Specifically, the breadth and depth of knowledge content of Geography 1 published by People's Education Press is greater. In terms of activity exploration difficulty,Geography 1 published by People's Education Press is higher than Geography 1 published by China Cartographic Press.Specifically, the exploration breadth and depth of Geography 1 published by People's Education Press is smaller. The authors of geography textbooks should coordinate the relationship among the factors affecting knowledge content difficulty and design the difficulty reasonably according to Curriculum Standard, enrich the activity exploration column based on real situations, and strengthen the comprehensiveness and openness of it.The selectors of geography textbooks should choose suitable textbooks based on academic conditions. The users of geography textbooks should deeply understand and delve into the factors affecting the difficulty of the textbook to improve teaching efficiency.
