A Comparative Study On The Influence Of Higher Education On Intergenerational Mobility Of Occupations In Class

In recent years,many scholars have expounded that higher education promotes the mobility of social strata from the perspective of theory and practice,which enables the bottom elites to enter the upper middle class through receiving higher education,thus changing their own destiny.However,some scholars think that with the expansion of higher education,the unequal opportunities of higher education enrollment,family background differences and the existing employment system,the function of higher education to promote the flow of social strata is weakened,and even the phenomenon of stratum solidification appears.Professional intergenerational mobility is the most important type of social stratum mobility,because it can better reflect the direction of social change,which refers to the mobility of occupation and social status between two generations.Nowadays,Class difference is one of the important reasons for poor intergenerational mobility,which will greatly reduce the effect of personal ability and effort on the realization of good intergenerational mobility."Dragon born dragon,phoenix born phoenix,mouse's son will make a hole." these proverbs are vivid portraits of the class's influence on the intergenerational mobility of occupations.The more social capital people have,the higher social class they are The more education you can get,the more opportunities you have for upward mobility,and vice versa.Our society is now facing such a challenge:In the current situation of clear class division and large gap between classes,what kind of system or rules should be established to help the society to carry out a good intergenerational mobility,so that all classes have a relatively fair opportunity and environment for mobility.At the same time,we should also notice that the influence of class differences on the intergenerational mobility of occupations is more and more profound,"knowledge changes fate" is hindered by many factors,it is more and more difficult for the higher education to change their class status with the power of knowledge,and the problem of class affecting the intergenerational mobility of occupations needs to be solved urgently.While referring to the existing literature and theories,this paper uses the 2015 National Social Science Foundation project team's questionnaire on "can universities change their destiny" to conduct empirical analysis,mainly from three dimensions to study the influence of the stratum of higher education on the intergenerational mobility:first,compare the overall intergenerational mobility of Higher Education and different stratum of Higher Education The second is to compare the influence of class on the intergenerational mobility of higher education in the elite stage and the popular stage;the third is to compare the career changes of people of different origins and classes after receiving higher education,and to compare with their parents' occupations to verify whether the class can affect the promotion of higher education on the intergenerational mobility The conclusion of this paper is as follows:the higher level of higher education is still higher than the lower level of higher education,but the higher level of higher education is still higher than the lower level of higher education;there are significant differences in the higher level of higher education,although the overall trend is upward,the upward mobility rate of higher level is still higher than the lower level The level of intergenerational mobility of higher education in the lower class is higher than that in the higher class,but the mobility distance is shorter.The results of empirical analysis show that among the factors that influence the intergenerational mobility of higher education,the father's occupation,the father's highest educational background,and the level of family living standards play an obvious role.Finally,based on the fact of the intergenerational flow of higher education,combined with the analysis results of this paper,this paper further puts forward the countermeasures to promote the realization of good intergenerational flow of higher education in all levels:the higher education should establish correct motivation for success,strengthen their own human capital;parents should improve their educational ability,strengthen the cooperation between families and schools;colleges and universities should take one look The government needs to strengthen the education reform and strive to promote the employment of college students.
