Poverty alleviation through education is an important path to achieve targeted poverty alleviation.Under the background of policy of Vocational Education East-West Collaborative Action Plan,"Lianghou students"(surplus labor not admitted to high school or university)from Yunnan enrolled in boarding vocational schools at Shanghai.Environmental changes,the breakdown of the old support network and the lack of adaptability caused difficulties of adaptation for these rural students who came to a strange city that is far away from home.Proper social support mitigates the negative impact of life pressure and promotes individual social adaptation together with physical and mental health.However,the poverty alleviation work at present did not pay attention to the demand of "Lianghou students" from Yunnan nor provide sufficient social support to help them adapt smoothly.Addressing the problem of enrollment adaptation is the prerequisite for the smooth implementation and landing of the education poverty alleviation policy.It also directly affects the current physical and mental health,future development and social adaptation of"Lianghou students".Poverty alleviation through education is a systematic project which is difficult to achieve good results by relying solely on the government.And the multi-participants outside the government can bring more perfect social support for" Lianghou students" from Yunnan and promote their enrollment adaptation.Based on this,this study attempts to answer the following questions:How is the enrollment adaptation of Yunnan's "Lianghou students" at the initial stage of their study in Shanghai?What social supports have they received in the process of enrollment adaptation and what are the problems?What kind of social support can be provided after involving of social work to Yunnan's " Lianghou students" and how effective it can be.The study interviewed 19" two kinds of dropouts "from Yunnan at A Vocational Technical School in Shanghai,it is found that they face difficulties in life,study,interpersonal and psychological aspects during the stage of enrollment adaptation.And the social support for them includes various kinds of support from the government,schools,K social work institutions and families,but the available support is insufficient.Social work carried out specific practical interventions to address the enrollment adaptation predicament of " two kinds of dropouts" from Yunnan through the work methods of casework and group work.And it is found that the involvement of social work can enhance the social support for them emotional support and information support,which can promote their enrollment adaptation,therefore,it can provide experience and reflection on how poverty alleviation can promote the adaptation of poor groups in different places.
