According to “Music Curriculum Standards(2011)during the Period of Compulsory Education”,this paper regards students' listening experience at the core of curriculum design,and combines multiple teaching forms,including rhythm and graph music score to examine the application of the listening experience teaching method to the song Home on the Range for Grade 5 students in the primary school from the perspective of the beat,phrase,singing skills,emotional experience,etc.The introduction part mainly expounds the research background,significance and methods,and summarizes the definitions and relevant research findings of “listening” in music education.Chapter 1 mainly introduces the application of “listening” to teach the song Home on the Range.First of all,the song is listened to by students throughout for four times,during which students are led to perceive the rhythms of this song,learn the knowledge and skills marked in the textbook,get familiar with the tune of the song and grasp the structure of phrases.After that,the listening experience is combined with multiple teaching methods,such as the guessing game,rhythm,and graph music score,to facilitate students' understanding of key and difficult knowledge points and grasp of the correct singing methods.Chapter 2 focuses on analyzing several teaching methods which guide students to have emotional experience of the song Home on the Range via listening experience.In listening to the whole song,students are asked to perceive the emotional connotation of the composer's eulogy and missing of the hometown.In listening to the details,students are led to sing this song full of emotions.The listening experience acquired from the collaborative singing of this song by the teacher and the students is compared with the previous listening experience so that students can better feel the power of emotional spurt.Chapter 3 points out implications of the teaching method based on the listening experience.Teachers should clarify the questions for students to think about before the start of the listening experience.The setting of these questions should stick to the progressive principle and be in line with students' overall appreciation level.This chapter comes to theconclusion that listening teaching is based on listening and can be combined with other various teaching forms to strengthen students' music experience.Meanwhile,the listening-based teaching activities should be dominated by students,and the teacher should immediately adjust the teaching style according to students' classroom feedback.By exploring the application of listening experience to the teaching practice of Home on the Range,this paper attempts draw the educators' attention to listening teaching so that the latter can pay more attention to students' direction perception and experience of the music.
