General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a report on behalf of the 18th central committee at the 19th national congress of the communist party of China:"We will promote the implementation of the concept of nationwide fitness programs,make China a strong sports nation,and make preparations and organization for the Beijing winter Olympics and Paralympic Games.We should unswervingly uphold and carry forward the party's leadership over sports,put the people at the core status of sports development,and,based on the needs and wishes of the people,we should guide and promote the people to actively participate in the development of sports,so as to realize the coordinated development of national fitness and national health." Secondary vocational students,as members of the masses,should also implement the essence of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech.The situation of physical activity engagement for secondary vocational students are not optimistic,physical activities directly affect students' fitness.This study examines the relationship between physical motivation and extracurricular sports activities,physical health and health-related quality of life(QOL)in secondary vocational school students from the perspective of Self-Determination Theory.so as to make some constructive comments and suggestions for encouraging students to actively participate in physical activities and school physical education reform.Participants were 545 male and female secondary vocational students from Qingdao electronic school,who completed relevant questionnaires to measure the variables.This study adopts the methods of literature,measurement,questionnaire and mathematical statistics to collect and analyze the relevant research variables in this study.Descriptive and regression analyses were conducted for the research purpose.We found that:1)The Students' fitness was positively correlated with internal motivation,identification,integrated regulation and introjected regulation,while negatively correlated with external intervention and amotivation.2)The intensity of students' physical activity showed positive correlation with internal motivation,identity and integration regulation,introjected regulation,and also showed significant negative correlation with external regulation and non-motivation as well.3)There was no significant correlation between Students' health-related quality of life and the internal motivation,identity and integration and introjected regulation.There was a significant negative correlation between Students' health-related quality of life and external regulation and non-motivation.4)Amotivation negatively predicted the intensity of leisure-time physical activities,while identification and integrated regulation predicted it positively.Internal motivation positively predicted health-related quality of life,while amotivation predicted health-related quality of life negatively.Findings support the importance of self-determination in vocational students'physical activity engagement.Nurturing and developing self-determined motivation in physical education not only enhance the students' physical activity and fitness,but also,maybe more important,directly contribute to their well-being.
