Traditional apprenticeship has played an important role in the development of handicraft industry.With the development of new and high technologies,the industrial structure has been upgraded.As an innovative mode of cultivating skilled talents,modern apprenticeship has gradually improved the quality of vocational education.At present,China's modern apprenticeship is still in the pilot stage,the legal status of modern apprenticeship has not been established,the implementation is not satisfactory.Whereas,in both Britain and America modern apprenticeships have created more jobs,reduced unemployment and boosted national economies.Therefore,it is necessary to learn from the successful experience of modern apprenticeship in Britain and America.This research uses literature analysis and comparative research.Firstly,it describes the history and impetus factors of modern apprenticeship in Britain and America,and then it explains the implementation of modern apprenticeship in both countries from legal system,guarantee system,organization and management system,participation of industrial enterprises,curriculum setting and teacher construction.According to the research results,the successful experiences of modern apprenticeship system in both countries are summarized as following:the legal and security systems are relatively sound;management system is with a clear division of power and responsibility;industry,enterprises and vocational colleges support the program;curriculum setting highlights the core skills;the system of professional standards and qualification certificates for vocational teachers are relatively perfect;attach great importance to the training of teachers' teaching ability.Finally,it provides some suggestions for the development of China's modern apprenticeship system according to the results:to establish and improve the legal system and clarify the legal status of modern apprenticeship;on the basis of stakeholder theory,all the main bodies cooperate to educate students;build a unified skill standard and qualification certification system to improve the quality of talent training;deepen curriculum reform of vocational education;strengthen the construction of vocational education teachers.
