Currently it is required that the mathematics teaching should cultivate students' competence in the high school mathematics course reform.However in senior three facing the college entrance examination it is still common that teachers use the whole class teaching method and students apply the excessive assignment tactic.In such condition a study should be done about how to improve the teaching and foster students' competence.Taking the idea of teaching to think,experience and express(Three Teaching)as the guideline,the paper studied how to cultivate students' competence in the high school mathematics teaching,applying questionnaires and a case study.The author analyzed the status quo and the problems in senior three math teaching by questionnaires,put forward solutions to some issues and constructed a problem-explanation teaching model based on Three Teaching.It is concluded two points by the case study: 1.Three Teaching is an educational philosophy to broaden students' horizon and get a better grasp of mathematics and an approach to foster students' competence.The problem-explanation teaching is an effective pattern to implement Three Teaching.2.It is practicable to put the problem-explanation teaching into use which is based on Three Teaching.Not only could it promote the teaching efficiency and students' scores,but it could cultivate students' competence and form a good learning habit.
