With the trend promotion of "education informationization" and "education modernization",multimedia teaching has become the general trend.PPT,as a multimedia teaching medium,can present a variety of forms of interactive content in classroom teaching,which is well received by teachers and students.As one of the important products of curriculum reform,textbook is a bridge connecting teachers and students.At the same time,it is also one of the important teaching tools in classroom teaching.Therefore,this study takes The first compulsory chemistry textbook of general high school in 2019 edition(hereinafter referred to as "new high school chemistry textbook")as an example and explores the effect of textbook illustrations in PPT courseware with the multimedia teaching assistive tools--PPT as the carrier.This study makes use of the complementary advantages of the three research methods,namely eye movement research method,PAAS independent evaluation scale and interview method,so as to have a more comprehensive,scientific and objective understanding of the textbook illustration effect in PPT courseware,it is of great significance to study students' cognitive preference of reading illustrations and to promote teachers' multimedia teaching.The first part,introduction.This part introduces the research background,carries out experimental design research on this basis,and expounds the theoretical basis and eye movement tracking technology,at the same time,puts forward the research purpose,research object,research content,research method and research ideas,and expounds the significance of this research from the theoretical and practical aspects.The second part is literature review and concept definition.This part sorts out the domestic and foreign research status of PPT courseware,illustration effect and illustration eye movementresearch,and determines the starting point of this research.The relevant concepts in this study,namely PPT courseware,chemistry textbook illustration,illustration effect and the connotation of eye movement research are defined.The third part is empirical research.This part is divided into two parts,the first part is to sort out and classify the illustrations of the new high school chemistry textbook according to the dimensions.The second part,18 first-year students are divided into three groups,3 boys and 3 girls in each group,using eye-tracking technology,among them set the textbook illustrations of PPT courseware presentation(picture after text,text after picture,text and picture at the same time),the textbook illustrations of PPT courseware types(explanatory illustrations,organized illustrations,representative illustration),whether there is background in the presence of PPT courseware(no related background,has related background and no background),whether there are decorative illustrations in the presence of PPT courseware(decorative illustrations,no decorative illustrations),dependent variables as the eye movement data(time of first stare,stare times,total time for the stare,pupil diameter,hot figure,eye movement trajectory diagram)as the dependent variables.After the end of the eye movement experiment,the students are interviewed and filled in the independent evaluation scale of PAAS.The fourth part is the collation and analysis of eye movement data and PAAS evaluation scale.According to the eye movement data,the first fixation time of the illustrations when students read the PPT is used to analyze which illustrations are more likely to attract students' attention;The total fixation time,fixation times and pupil diameter are used to comprehensively analyze the cognitive load brought by the illustrations to the students.The independent evaluation scale of PAAS analyzes students' psychological effort and task difficulty from a subjective perspective.The two research methods of eye movement tracking and independent evaluation scale of PAAS can learn from each other and make scientific and reasonable data analysis.The fifth part,interview record and analysis.The interview method is used to understand the psychological cognitive process of students' reading the textbook illustrations in PPT courseware from the subjective level,and the representative subjects(one male and one female)are selected for the interview.The sixth part,the research summary.Research conclusions :(1)Under the condition of high correlation of pictures and text,the pictures and text in PPT courseware show better illustration effect at the same time;(2)The illustration effect of the organizational illustrations in PPT is better than that of the explanatory illustrations,and than that of the representative illustrations,therefore,the teacher should scientifically choose the illustrations according to the text content,so that the students can betterunderstand the teaching information.(3)It is better to have no background in the PPT courseware.There is no statistically significant difference in the effect of illustrations with and without relevant background images.The effect of irrelevant background pictures in PPT courseware is better for girls,and the effect of relevant background pictures in PPT courseware is better for boys.(4)Decorative illustrations in PPT will increase students' cognitive load,so the effect without decorative illustrations is better.But on the analysis of decorative illustrations in PPT,the effect of decorative illustrations on girls is better than that on boys.On the basis of the research conclusion,teaching suggestions are highlighted after combining with the existing research and interviews.
