Research On The Relationship Between Energy Consumption And Economic Growth In Northeast China

Energy is the main driving force of economic development,and it can have a certain impact on the improvement of the economic aggregate and the acceleration of development speed.As a pioneer of industrialization,Northeast China has made its economic development into a fast track by virtue of its energy advantages.However,in recent years,Northeast economy has obviously declined,and the economic downturn has in turn led to shrinking energy demand and affecting energy development.Studying the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in Northeast China is of strategic significance to resolve the economic recession and energy shortage dilemma.First,a descriptive analysis of the energy consumption and economic growth in the Northeast region from 2000 to 2017 combined with the chart,found that the energy consumption is large but the proportion of various types of energy consumption is unreasonable,the GDP shows an upward trend but the growth rate is substantial declining.The energy consumption and GDP in Northeast China from high to low are Liaoning Province,Heilongjiang Province and Jilin Province.Secondly,used the cointegration test and Granger test to empirically study the quantitative relationship and causal relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in Northeast China,the following conclusions were obtained:(1)Energy consumption and economic growth have long-term stability relationship.(2)The energy consumption and economic growth of Jilin are mutually causal;Liaoning and Heilongjiang both show that economic growth is a unidirectional cause of energy consumption.Then studied the energy consumption efficiency of Northeast China,measured the energy consumption intensity of each province.Used data envelopment analysis to calculate the energy consumption efficiency of various industries in Liaoning,Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces,and found that the energy consumption efficiency of the secondary industry in Northeast China is generally low;in terms of energy consumption efficiency,the energy efficiency of Liaoning Province is relatively low.Then optimized the energy efficiency of Northeast China.Finally,the article concludes the conclusion based on the empirical analysis results and puts forward related suggestions.
