The period from 1919 to 1929 was a decade of economic prosperity in the United States.The completion of the new industrial revolution created a huge impetus for the economic and social development of the United States.After the great changes in the early years of the new century,the entire United States has emerged on the stage of world history with prosperity,ushering in the era of mass consumption amid the steady growth of national wealth,national income and industrial output.The abundance of material society makes people no longer stick to the purchase of basic daily necessities,and the spiritual enjoyment and satisfaction become the main goal of people's life pursuit.At this time,consumption provides an excellent way for people's sensory enjoyment and psychological pleasure.Since then,the traditional concept of consumption shake,consumerism thought instead.Compared with the early 1920 s,American women in the age of consumption have improved their legal,political and social status to different degrees.At the same time,the expansion of woman's education,the employment situation,and the level of participation in political struggle also improved to some extent,which made the most outstanding generation of women in American history.The consumption of American women in the 1920 s showed the family lifestyle with high consumption concept under the special historical background of the consumption era.This new concept gradually became the consumption concept that influenced the consumption behavior of American women in the further development.At this time,the consumption of household appliances used in family life liberated woman's hands,enriched woman's life,for the past monotonous housework activities added fun.Stimulated by commercial means such as advertising and installment payments,women controlled three-quarters of the purchasing power in the United States at the time.In the era of consumption,the American society has laid a solid material foundation for female consumption.While women enjoy the pleasure of consumption,they also have an impact on the American economy,society and female families.By studying the consumption of American women between 1919 and 1929,we can find its connection with the economic and social development of the United States,and the benign interaction between the twobecame one of the characteristics of the economic development of the United States at that time.The paper consists of four parts:The first part is the content of the introduction,which specifically introduces the research purpose and significance of this topic,Domestic and foreign scholars on the research status of American consumer society and women history in the consumption era.At the same time,there are the basic contents and research methods of this paper.The second part is the first chapter of the text.This chapter,as the background of the whole text,mainly introduces the arrival of the American consumption era,and defines "consumption","consumption society","female consumption" and other related concepts.The early decades of the 20 th century were the beginning of the rise of the consumer society,mainly reflected in the completion of the industrial revolution,the development of the economy,the initial realization of the industrialization and urbanization of the United States and the prosperity of foreign trade.After entering to the 1920 s,American society into the era of consumption,with the rise of new industry and the development of the technology revolution,the economic boom of the decade,at the same time,traditional consumption concept has been the impact of the economic and shaken,at the same time,the era of consumption of American women have a lot of changes compared with the first world war.The third part is the second chapter of the text.This chapter mainly introduces the general situation of female consumption in this period under the background of the consumption era.This paper analyzes the driving factors that stimulate female consumption,and points out that the attraction of advertisement,installment payment and personalized consumer goods are the reasons for female consumption.At the same time,female consumption in the 1920 s showed distinct characteristics: consumption standard,consumption balance,identity,which are elaborated in the paper.The fourth part is the last chapter of the text.This chapter mainly analyzes the influence of female consumption.According to the discussion of the first two chapters of the text,female consumption in the 1920 s has its unique characteristics of The Times inthe context of consumer society.This paper reveals the influence of female consumption in the historical and cultural evolution,and analyzes the interaction between female consumption activities and individuals,families and economic society.
