Sequence of numbers plays an important part in senior high school math.It is the continue of function and the footstone of the Higher Mathematics.At the same time,the questions about sequence of numbers are always indispensable in the College Entrance Examination.At present,there are many applications about the sequence of numbers in solving problems and other subjects.But the researches about the obstacles in learning sequence of numbers are rare.Questionnaire survey is adopted in this thesis.There are three parts in the surcey.(1)Questionnaire for students: it reflects the current situations of learning sequence of numbers in terms of students;(2)Questionnaire for teachers: it reflects the current situations in terms of teachers;(3)Testing paper: it tests the level of the students in sequence of numbers.Eight hundred students and twenty-eight teachers from a middle school in Chongqing participate in the questionnaire survey.All the data were analyzed using Excel.Besides,some students and teachers are interviewed in this survey.According to the result,there are five kinds of learning disabilities in learning sequence of numbers.(1)The concepts of arithmetic progression and geometric progression are ignored;(2)Students are weak in expressing mathematical languages,they can't recognize different forms of formula;(3)Students are weak in comprehending mathematical exercises,they can't understand the exercises correctly.(4)The students are weak in operational capability.(5)The students are lack of comprehensive ability in sequence of numbers.In order to help students to overcome obstacles,there are five instructional strategies.(1)Lay emphasis on the understanding of the concept of sequence of numbers.(2)Lay emphasis on the inversion of mathematical language,deepen the recognition and application of the formulas.(3)Lay emphasis on training of good problem-solving habits,especially the comprehending ability about the exercises of sequence of numbers.(4)Lay emphasis on training of operational capability and strengthen the awareness of superscript.(5)Lay emphasis on training of the comprehensive application ability about sequence of numbers.These strategies are available.Combined with specific case,they are reasonable as well.These strategies must be helpful in learning and teaching sequence of numbers.
